Re: RPI Off-Season 2013 Part I: We Will Get Our Title Next Season

Good morning everyone, here is today's dose of "The Hockey World Is Really Small":

According to my research, Jon Cooper, the recently hired head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who had been coaching their AHL affiliate the Syracuse Crunch (Norfolk Admirals last year) coached CJ Lee as a member of the Green Bay Gamblers and Josh Rabbani as a member of the St. Louis Bandits.

Good Morning, RA91! :)

Good Morning to the re- oh wait, where am I...

I knew there was a reason why I liked this Crunch team more than others... ;)

He was probably too busy trying to figure out how to get that guy Neal on the ice more.

A hat trick and a +3 in a game the team lost, 8-3.

That Everblade team is well coached;). They won the Kelly Cup for the league last year.

Regulars here who normally don't visit the USCHO Cafe might want to go to the polls today and vote for Ralph! :)

Poll closes today if I understand correctly, so don't think about it, just do it!

A bit shocked that I reached the semifinals this year, as I never reached past the third round before. It must be the fact that the ballots are secret this year.

almost 30 minutes have passed since your post and no, "Take it to the Alumni Thread" ;)

You have to do it yourelf. I only police the recruits thread now. ;)

Besides for AC whom DrD was referring to, one of the Colonel's kids plays there.

Re: RPI Off-Season 2013 Part I: We Will Get Our Title Next Season

An excellent question since, according to Brenthoven, it has apparently never been defined.

There was a bit of a kerfluffle earlier about it; apparently the definition is "whomever wins the election." The only criteria to qualify apparently is to be in top 100 post count (though it wasn't clear to me if that was all time or just for the prior year), with some arcane adjustments made.

There was a [cough] attempt to redefine it by certain parties to consider it poseur of the year based on a formula that would have made FS23 proud, but that attempt was emphatically rejected.

They use the top in all-time post count, throwing out those who have not posted at all in the past year. That means that they get further than 100 in the list. There is no simple way of figuring out who posted the most in the past year.

Was referring to BT as assistant coach and offensive coordinator. And yes, i figure anything is fair game on this thread but try to stick to recruit related material on the other thread.

A statistic that might be interesting(but probably also not easy to come up with) is the average posting lifespan. I notice some who post at an incredible rate who do so for a few years and then are never heard from again. I am just amazed that i remain in the top 10 for total posts but almost 14 years is a long time. i figure if Ralph stopped posting at noon today-I would probably have to keep posting for 35 years or more to catch up to his total. (and by then, FlagDude would be well beyond me)
