For all the numbers and TV broadcasts in the world, I unfortunately can't change what happens on the ice.

Here's to our graduating seniors, and to next year's team!

Seconded, and a great job by you on that stuff too!

So I assume this means that you guys are 100% eliminated? I wasn't able to find a situation where you make it, unfortunately!

Re: RPI Off-Season 2013 Part I: We Will Get Our Title Next Season

What a season to look forward to next year. While we will lose a stellar leader in Lee, and aggressor in Greg, a goal scorer in Marty, a good goaltender in Merriam, and of course a playmaker and points producer in Bailen, we will still have quite the team coming up next year. It may be early, but from what I saw Sunday against Brown, we may have a new Bailen coming up in Freshman Phil Hampton. He has a lot of work to do, but his play style was quite similar to that of Bails. While it stinks that Nick was one point shy of tying the school record of points by a Defenseman, he will still be remembered for years to come.

That tribute being said, the team next year will be more mature and be ready for what is to come. Look at the streak we were on going into the playoffs. And it took Senior goaltender Borelli to be on his A++ game to stop 40-42 shots to get his team where they are now. This team was hungry and they will be back with a vengeance next year. The Freshmen have matured and are now producing points, the Sophomores have found their grooves and are ready to go, and the Juniors have already found themselves and are ready to lead us to a championship of some sort next year. Tinordi has already begun to return to the line ups in practice, so he will be ready to go come first game next year. Also, Coach Appert really showed his skills on Saturday when Milos and Bails were both out of the game by keeping his cool and not making mistakes with his lines. All in all, next year will be exciting. 197 days is a long ways away, but that is the perfect amount of time to hit the ice and train to be a championship team. LET'S GO RED!!!!!

Re: RPI Off-Season 2013 Part I: We Will Get Our Title Next Season

I was just thinking (a bad thing for me to do). I always use the end of RPI's last game as stated in the boxscore for calculating things like the midpoint of our offseason. Should I do that, or should I use some time on Friday when we officially were eliminated? If the latter is the case, which game being over officially ended our season? I wasn't following things well.

Yep, we are out. Too many upsets.

I figured when I saw the scores tonight after work that you guys were in trouble ... I guess I was right! Sorry guys, good luck next year! Hope to see you all in Lake Placid! :)

At this point, people will be begging to play us in the playoffs next year.

Why not? It's the easiest way to the semis.

Granted, when I was at RPI, we couldn't even win a playoff game.

Bailen will be missed for sure. Similar to how much we are going to miss Flanagan and Hughes. I still have a feeling, after seeing you guys in person twice this year, that you will be strong next year and a force to be reckoned with. However, only time will tell.

We should indeed be strong, perhaps even favored in the ECAC, but anything can happen. I for one always worry that players will turn pro. Although I don't expect any this year, it's possible. We do have 13 forwards, seven defensemen, and two gaoiles returning, plus an incoming class that on paper is better than what we are losing.

SLU had the misfortune of playing us twice near the end of the season after we woke up. :)

Why don't you just flip a coin?

Re: RPI Off-Season 2013 Part I: We Will Get Our Title Next Season

Once again, I would like to thank the seniors. While the incoming class may be more talented, they will not be able to provide the leadership that came from this class.
Once again, we will go into next season with great goaltending and a very good defensive core. Also, we have a balanced scoring attack from all forwards.
Now all we need is leadership and chemistry. Most of the chemistry is already in place, but can we replace the leadership of Bailen and Lee?
It was a very exciting season that ended too soon, but I am so looking forward to October.
