Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

SA PostGame video. He’s clearly not happy with tonight’s performance..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR5ABqbLgYo

I have not seen SA happy with the team very often. I often am critical of some of the decisions he makes but i really like his attitude that we are never really good enough. I know we allowed UNH back into a game that we should have had completely under control but when you look at the video you almost cannot count the completely open nets we just missed. #12 and #25 both must be having nightmares about two chances they had. Also, Cam just deserves incredible credit for standing in there as that #1 line kept firing at him and charging the net. I am not sure any goalie in the country can stop them completely and he just did what he had to in order to keep us in this game until we found a way to win. Also need to point out that once we got that final lead, we play as well with a late third period lead as I have seen in years.
The next game, Friday, is even bigger than it looks. Win on Friday and the streak continues and we have a shot at the tournament championship and national recognition. Lose Friday and much of what we have done the past 8 games fades and loses most of it's meaning. Just win baby!

No secret that I am not a great fan of this coach. But I am shocked and delighted to see his take on how the boys played vs. UNH. Appert did not sugarcoat - he laid down the hammer and called out the sloppiness and careless for what it was. The turnovers are just too many to fathom and the penalties are results of either stupidity or lack of hustle where an opponent gets by because he wants it more. As our team gets more complacent with a 3-0 lead, the other team gets more desperate. We must have the smarts to recognize that and react accordingly. We have played 7 games in a row decided by one goal or were tied. We need to develop a killer attitude and build and maintain leads, not leave the fate of the game up to a bounce of a puck.

We need to develop a killer attitude.

Let's start by trying to win each period. It doesn't matter what the score of the game is when the period ends, make sure that by the end of the period, the score for that period is either tied or we scored more than they did.

Then, after developing some proficiency along these lines, try to win every five-minute block of time.

Totally echo the entire post. i would like to see the defense tighten things up and tidy their play in our own zone. Cam and Kazzie are just asked to make too many point blank stops caused by lazy plays in front of them. Weakly waving at a puck does not get it out of the zone. Too often reversing directions and skating backwards towards our own goal, only to get stripped of the puck is painful to watch. I have always been a strong advocate of skating north and pushing th epuck up ice. Ane if at all possible, NEVER have the defenseman carrying the puck up ice be the last one moving up ice. Someone has to have the responsibilty to be guarding behind just in case the puck carrier loses an edge and creates a complete free turnover.

Ed Weaver article about ET's injury http://www.troyrecord.com/sports/20...-for-remainder-of-season-with-shoulder-injury.

It's the shoulder this time, not the ACL.

Ed also states that Emil Ohrvall will be coming next season which seems unlikely since he is listed as an 11th grader at Shattuck.
To be fair he didn’t actually say next season although the implications are obvious as he equates Orvhall & Burgess in the sentence.

It sounded to me as if he meant next season. Of course he didn't mention Hayhurst and some others whom we expect next season.

He could be very big for his age and also very smart (but i think this is an error from Ed which is not anything new)

Happy turkey day
Ps what Union player put that hit on tironese ???? I hope wood or devito get them mayors cup

It wasn't the only error that he made as he has RPI tied with Harvard with QU 2 points back with 2 games at hand. He must have written this prior to last weekend as QU came away with 2 ties and we are still 1 point ahead of the Crimson.
I see my "reliable source" was incorrect when it came to ET's injury. I just hope it wasn't the same shoulder that he injured last season. It could be ongoing in future years.
Anyway, a very Happy Thanksgiving to all of my fellow posters! :)

Good luck against WMU.

Here's to an all ECAC final in South Bend!
