...broadcasters on the catwalk.

When I first went up there, I refused to look over the edge because of my fear of heights, but it was getting crowded and a little unsafe up there, but I miss it.

I am sure that I would be petrified also, but it was something that made the HFH different.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Anyone from here going to the Bentley game on the 20th? If so, did you buy tickets yet and where did you buy them from? The Bentley website shows nothing as far as I can see on how to get tickets. I know its a small rink and I don't wanna take the chance of showing up that night and getting left out. Thanks in advance for any help.

Myself and a small group of fellow fans will also be in attendance. Tickets only at the door is silly.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

Thanks. That saves me from having to look it up when I get home. We also had them earlier, at least since 64-65. So they are something that has disappeared along with the HFH stage, broadcasters on the catwalk, and the Holiday tourney.
I miss the yearbook sold at the first home game. I have them all from the past along with most of the programs back to 1963. I too used to try to keep score but often the time outs after a goal were too short for me to enter all the information. And sometimes the announcements through the loud speaker were static filled or garbled and I just could not get all the information.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

No offense but getting outshot 40-21 against SLU, a more reasonable 40-29 against Clarkson, and 43-19 tonight against Yale.......don't you think you have some cherry colored glasses on? I don't know about you but if I was Appert I would be keeping them on an even and realistic keel. Kudo's to you/they won...but most nights those shot results are going to lead to losses not W's.

I guess I'm a bit late in responding to this post, but just to make it clear - I ALWAYS have cherry colored glasses on. ;)

Wooooooow.

That was 100% a gift. Brown scored.

Well, in nearly 40 years of watching this program I remember multiple games where I thought we got hosed by the zebras, but I'm hard-pressed to come up with another gift like we got tonight. I await hearing the refs explanation for the seemingly inexplicable. Maybe this really is a different kind of season....

Edit: Just saw the WaP post. That ranks up there with any of the times we've been screwed. I didn't think I'd ever say this, but I feel badly for Brown.

I can not believe there is no back up for video. They were live streaming from the rink. What a terrible way to decide a game, it was a goal, NO question. Long bus ride home from what should have a been a win.

I thought they used the RPI-TV feed to do replays. Of course, the rule is you must have the overhead camera with a PIP of the clock readout. In addition, I wouldn't be surprised if they've required it to be league provided in order to prevent a conflict of interest.

I don't disagree that it should have been called a goal and that it's a shame that the replay equipment wasn't working, but they have protocols set up for review and those don't include bringing up the RPI TV stream on an iPad.

Wooooooow.

That would certainly explain why the refs discussed the play prior to making their decision. And since there's no longer required to be a goal judge at ice level, one less perspective.

Wasn't thinking ipad, in this day and age most places have more then one technology back up for streaming video. Given its at RPI you would think they would have a back up system.

The league might not allow RPI-TV to be used in this instance because it could be considered a conflict of interest.

That's more what I was referring to. They have to use official feeds, not anything that could be colored by one of the teams.

I'll raise you to 52 years of following this program and I too have never seen anything like this. There have been some instances for discussion and 1985 and Servinis being perhaps a step ahead of what the ref saw:), but i have never seen such a clear example of a goal against us being disallowed when we all had the advantage of seeing it over and over on RPI TV. Does it even up all the times many of us felt we got a bad call? of course not. But it does make for a very early Christmas present and a very nice way to end the first 6 game stretch of all ECAC games.

In this case only, what a wonderful rule they had to follow!!!

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I didn't see the OT because I was bringing my youngest back home and was receiving reports from Fr Joe via text but in no way should we have been called for an elbowing in OT. You never see that call at any level of good competitive hockey except the ECAC ( my opinion not the good Padre's). I feel bad for Brown if they took the screw but they should have never been on the man advantage, period!!!!

I agree that Brown should never have been on the power play, but with our history it isn't surprising. That is why I fear the worse and the league will find a way to turn the game into a loss.

Perhaps we joined a club where we get credit for every bad penalty call against us, and when we reach 1,000 we can trade the credits in for one point in the league standings. ;)

According to the NCAA rulebook, there's no way for the league to turn it into a loss, as once they dropped the puck for the ensuing faceoff, the play is set in stone. That's not to say we won't see some form of even-up when we head to Providence. Or if the school is fined by the league for faulty equipment...
