Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

All these kids may have never heard of "I never had sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."
Today’s mainstream media would love for that to be so. Much easier to rewrite history that way.......I’m done :D

This probably should go on the Alumni thread, but if I don't post it here, someone else will. Joe Juneau is one of six winners of the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award and the only one from hockey https://www.ncaa.org/about/resource...silver-anniversary-award-winners?sf15600945=1.

Edit: USCHO article http://www.uscho.com/2015/11/19/for...eau-to-receive-ncaa-silver-anniversary-award/

Well deserved; one of my all-time favorite hockey players, with special meaning to me, having spent over 18 months of my life doing glacial geology research in the Canadian Arctic, often assisted by Inuit. My understanding is that Joey earned BS, and MS with all but thesis in aeronautical engineering in his four years at RPI; not too shabby. But, maybe too cerebral for the 'big bad' Bruins back in the day?&

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

I was looking at the UND thread announcing their new nickname of Fighting Hawks. There were a few comments knocking the nickname Engineers and our old hawk mascot. I had to defend the honor of "dear old RPI"...

After Frau Reichskanzlerin Shirley's bodyguards almost knocked me over last Friday, I don't think that "dear old RPI" exists anymore.

A short article about Jimmy DeVito on USCHO. http://www.uscho.com/2015/11/20/jim...egain-eligibility-for-rensselaer-in-jan-2016/

DeVito expected to regain eligibility for Rensselaer in Jan. 2016

USCHO Staff Report • Nov. 20, 2015

Rensselaer announced Friday that junior forward Jimmy DeVito is expected to regain his eligibility in early January 2016.

DeVito has practiced, but not played this semester due to failure to meet the NCAA’s mandatory progress-toward-degree requirement.

“Jimmy has had the opportunity to concentrate on the most important aspect of college- earning a degree – and he has taken advantage of this chance by fully concentrating on his coursework,” said RPI director of athletics Dr. Lee McElroy in a statement. “While we are eager to have him rejoin his teammates for competition, we are most interested in Jimmy becoming a Rensselaer graduate and we continue to assist him in that endeavor.

“We appreciate the NCAA’s efforts in doing their due diligence through the waiver and subsequent appeal processes.”

In his first two seasons with the Engineers, DeVito posted two goals and nine points in 64 games.

Especially when you also include the recent release about TSA-like measures at hockey games.

Not one cent is being donated to that place unless she's gone.

Ralph’s not exaggerating as I was standing besides him. It was classless & needless

I'm sure the student who has to drop out for lack of financial aid respects your principled stand.

I think he just was in the Harry Sinden doghouse from day 1. An incredible and talented man on the ice, in the classroom and in the entire outside world. Jenny and i met him and his family at breakfast just as he was starting at RPI while we were staying in the former Holiday Inn. All of us who either met him or saw him on the ice knew we had something very special.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016:: Six Flags Over the HFH

IMO it was a good win @ Bentley tonight. Playing the last 5 games without your #1 & #2 center.....without your #1 Goalie......not to mention playing right off the bat without 2 guys who were going to be counted on because of academic issues. I give a lot of credit to SA & staff & mostly to the boys who’ve sucked it up with so many key players missing.

BTW, just going off the boxscore it looked like a very nice season debut for Rodriguez (Chi Chi is his nickname btw not A-ROD), +2 and 3 SOG.

Rodrguez impressed me too. Great Stache for Movember, showed great speed and also checked a Bentley player through the door right next to me in the 2nd period. He also may have deserved an assist on that Praps goal. Thought the play started with him shooting it from the right side and a rebound popping out to Praps who put it by the goalie. Perhaps a Bentley player took a swipe at it on the way to Praps but the puck was essentially in RPI control the whole time.

Decent game. We controlled for 2 periods and took the foot off the gas a bit. 11 forwards may have something to do with that.

Bentley needs a rink. That game had all the feel of a peewee game at a town rink. Just within local Boston youth hockey leagues there are a number of other rinks that are so much nicer.
