RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

The natives are getting restless. :D

Meh, I just see it as banter. It has its ebbs and flows. Where we finish is where we finish. If we win, we win. If we lose, we lose. Sure, there are probabilities, but mathematically it is not without possibility. As I've said in response to DeepRed's 5% stuff, 5% is a heck of a long way from 0%.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

There are far too many days between games. We all know what needs to happen. It's painful having to wait to see if the team can actually get it done (and watching the scoreboard to see if we get the requisite help elsewhere).

Wasn't there, like, a month and a half between Quidditch matches at Hogwarts? I think I'd prefer a week.

I made a little addition to my season simulator, but it's for RPI only so I'll post it here. It's basically a breakdown of where each point total is likely to place us in the final ECAC standings. Major takeaways are that going .500 probably leaves us in 6th and that we probably need to be near-perfect to get a bye.

Code:
   | 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
----------------------------------------------------
20 | 0.0 0.0 [B]0.8[/B] 0.0
21 | 0.0 0.4 [B]1.3[/B]
22 | 0.0 0.7 3.7 [B]4.7[/B]
23 | 0.0 0.2 3.5 [B]5.7[/B] 1.9
24 | 0.0 0.1 3.7 [B]14.8[/B] 8.4 1.0
25 | 0.0 1.2 [B]8.0[/B] 7.2 0.8 0.0
26 | 0.0 0.5 5.5 [B]12.7[/B] 3.9 0.1
27 | 0.0 0.8 [B]2.9[/B] 1.5 0.1
28 | 0.1 1.3 [B]1.9[/B] 0.3 0.0

meh.

I'm now at the stage where winning the last four games we play this season will be okay.

Given that the only way an ECAC team can win its last four games is to go the distance, I think we'd all be okay with it.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

Well, this will be the third time this season RPI will have faced a team ranked # 1 in the country coming into the game.

The # 1 team didn't win either of the first two. ;)

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

And should have lost both. 9 lousy seconds. :(

To be fair, they also had a clean break in overtime, so the argument could be made in the other direction. However, there's a win and a tie. Hopefully the #1's don't "hit for the cycle", if you know what I mean. ;)

It would be hard for me to be more upset about the outcome of that game.

Re: RPI Hockey 2015 - 2016 (Part II): We want more banners, not more flags

Code:
   | 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
----------------------------------------------
20 | 0.2 0.9 0.0
21 | 0.0 0.7 1.4
22 | 0.0 2.1 6.9 3.4
23 | 0.5 5.7 6.2 1.2
24 | 0.0 0.1 5.7 23.2 5.8 0.2
25 | 0.0 1.4 8.4 4.9 0.0
26 | 0.9 6.0 11.6 2.6

Now we would need help to secure a bye even winning out.
