Guess I was wrong offense doesn't take that long to turn on. Congrats Seth!

NB-Agree with you almost entirely. But you have to include bad or one sided officiating in the list of little things that go into a game. Last night was not horrible, but some of the calls were not exactly great. Thankfully we had the game safely out of hand and they made virtually no difference. And speaking of the olittle things-we just have to do better on face offs(not in total numbers, but on the important ones in our own defensive zone).
The call on Riley in the third was a terrible call. Surprisingly it wasn't Feola.

Hockey is not Dungeons & Dragons. There's so many little things that go into a game that you can not blame it on luck. Especially not to the tune of 6-1.

Find me a coach who will attribute a win or loss to luck. You won't.

You talk like a person who has played a lot of videogames, but has never played a team sport above the peewee level.

You don't give Fdude enough credit, he also enjoys Medieval Festivals.

The penalty on Melanson for hooking in the offensive zone behind the net was marginal at best(can you say DIVE?)-but it was not really a stinker. For a fairly non physical game though, we did get called for more than I thought was really there. Union played their usual game-they can be physical but usually within the limits so they do not get called. I suspect tonight will be a bit nastier from both sides. We have to be prepared for a special teams game, something we have not done well with this year.

Exactly. This was no flukey 2-1 OT win. Anyone who saw last night's game saw not so much luck as a team that played with passion, purpose, and confidence in all facets of the game. What I really liked is that last night this team did not make the chronic mistakes of recent years (blowing 2 or 3 goal lead late or not playing the full 60 mins). This team excised some demons last night and when you beat the defending national champs and #2 team in the nation in your own barn by five goals - even in October - you show you can skate with anyone in the country and win big games.

Anyone bringing a broom to Messa tonight??? :D

Bingo. I saw so much "attacking defense" (as I call it) and forechecking all over the place that I was pretty sure the teams switched jerseys last night. RPI did kind of lay back a little bit late in the second and third periods, and I am always afraid of that due to our tendency to blow leads -- but the defense was so on point last night that I was willing to give them a break on that one.

I think ELynah said it best: "And in other news tonight, RPI dressed up as a real hockey team for halloween, currently leading Union 4-0."

Hard eight isn't even a video game. Also, if running into a hot goalie isn't considered bad luck, then I don't know what is.

So in an attempt to divert from the toxic sludge that seems to be seeping back through the cracks in this thread again, let's talk about the effort that will start in just under three hours.

You can bet that the Dutchmen (I'm sorry, every time I think about their mascot my mind drifts off to that character in Spongebob) are going to come out flying and angry, if their post-game interviews last night were any indication.

But, that being said, there are two main strategies for RPI to follow if they want success:
1) Stay out of the box. (This is a common one, though)
2) Do the same exact thing they did last night.

I'm serious. If they just attack the puck carrier rather than try to passively defend, skate with some speed, forecheck like crazy, keep the goal tending top notch, actually throw the puck towards the net and put it where it needs to be, and overall play a simple, straightforward game, they may not get another 6-1 blowout but they could put up a satisfying W.

Still only two wins, and we have historically had a LOT of trouble against Harvard. Gotta concentrate for next week.

Great weekend for the boys. Now keep the effort going. I’m smelling ECAC POW & GOW.

Not sure I read this correctly. I have a whole lot of Vodka on board. Only 2 wins? You do realize of course how long it has taken us to get 2 wins in a row against this team that count in the regular season? This not only earth shaking, it is global thermonuclear. Richter does not have a number this high.

I believe the last time was before I started college. However, this is not the national championship. It's just one opponent, and four points.

We could have played the Los Angeles Kings twice and won, and it wouldn't be a reason to be happy.
