Going by the loudness of Red in the anthem they did. I imagine that DrD will post a report later.

Wrote a quick report on the scores thread but have to run out for an emergency. Will repeat just one part here-great seeing Babo and all the others (CM and Bob) again. We truly have some wonderful fans of this program. Now that we have a win, let's get this team on a roll into and through the playoffs.

Nah- He would have sent Michael Anthony instead.

Well the Millionaire did show up in Troy recently and yet neglected to throw money Shirley's way. Might have raised her systolic a bit when she read this:

He really knows how to pop the cork, too:

Note that he is a retired man who once worked where?!?!?

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Thanks, but I know how to do basic math too. Where did I say that it would have changed the outcome of the game? I was asking a simple question about rules interpretation, which you didn't answer. You appear to derive pleasure in reinforcing how bad things are, but in this case your reply wasn't even relevant.

Just ignore him. Even if that means actually hitting the ignore button.

So even with all the wailing and nashing of teeth on this thread, we are sitting in 4th place today. If we stay healthy we could have a run in us. In Kazzie I trust!!!!

It's only one game. And if we win Friday, it'll only be two games. If Saturday can be tacked onto that, then we'll start talking.

Missed you Aspy. We would never have driven straight home if you and Troyboy had come down. This win deserved a little celebration. Although the win was great, if we play the same against the rest of the ECAC, we will not win most of our games. But remember we had Fulton and Miller still out and skated Luke at forward(he did a fine job, but it is most certainly not his natural position). We also had considerable good fortune in that even though Princeton got credited with 35+ shots(which I think was a bit high), they had far more that got tipped a bit wide or blocked by a body somewhere close to the net. We did have some trouble clearing out in front of Kasdorf and it is amazing that he was able to find the puck among the mass of bodies in front of him at times.
As i mentioned on the scores thread, this may well be the worst job of officiating I have seen in a very long time. The penalty on #12 ostensibly for pushing a Princeton forward into the goalie was beyond ludicrous and the DeVito call although legitimate necessitated a corresponding call on the Princeton player who put his stick through face cage(and perhaps cutting him).
We still need to sharpen up-we have got to win the defensive zone faceoffs or we will continue to give up quick easy goals. We need to learn how to get away with the same obstruction defense that others seem to do to us near the blue line. And although we did get a Power Play goal from a fantastic pass and assist, we have to figure how to create more opportunities with constant movement and motion. Teams that score on the PP at 25% or so win more often, fairly simple(see Union the past few years). Very impressed with what we saw last night, but it is only one game against the doormat of the league this year and a team we had already beaten once.

Not meaning to be antagonistic but we have played 3 more league games than most of the teams.

I noted that also. The six losses puts us only ahead of Brown and Princeton in fewer losses so our standing is a bit inflated at this stage, but still nice to break the streak and get one in the win column(especially on the road).

BTW-last night's game was SRO for a Princeton team that is in last place in the league, that hardly ever draws a big crowd, and if their basketball team is playing is usually a rink that is more than 1/2 empty. Huge RPI presence that our boys most surely noted and also appreciated. Speaking with a few of them, they most certainly appreciate the continued support.

I know they appreciate the support. Great to get them off the schnied.... on to next weekend! (maybe get some of us off the schneid, too. ;) )

RE: Aspy's thought we can have a run in us... Am all in on that: Get our team healthy... play to our strengths... be stingy with goals... become a hard team to play in the second half and we'll get our points alright.

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Great to see RPI get back in the win column. I had co-workers (RPI alumni from the 80's) down there tonight. Hopefully the RPI faithful made a good showing.

I was at the game and can assure everybody that the RPI faithful did, indeed, make a good showing.

There were people easily identifiable as RPI fans scattered pretty much throughout the building, though the greatest concentration was in the corner of the rink where RPI entered and exited at the beginning and end of periods. When the game ended, the team showed their appreciation for the fans by raising their sticks and bringing them down on the ice.

There's been an awful lot of commentary about how awful things are with every aspect of the RPI hockey program, including the fan support. But I have a suspicion that there are darned few other schools that would have as many fans show up for a road game when the team was coming in on a nine-game losing streak.

Having more fans than the home team at Princeton & Brown is a testament to the fanbase, given the distances to each. The old hockey axiom of "don't ask how, ask how many" holds true here. All those turning their noses up at a victory, take your BS elsewhere!

It was a lot of fun there in section 125 wasn't it?

Baker Rink is not all that far for a lot of the RPI fanbase. After all we RPI grads are usually pretty successful and own most of New Jersey anyway.;)

I doubt anyone's turning their nose up at a victory. After all, two points is two points. It's Monday now, though. It's a whole new week. It could have also been a whole new week yesterday, depending on what you consider to be the first day. Time to get to work. It's only one win. We have a long way to go, but the journey indeed has begun. As I stated before and AspyDad decided to remove from the quotation, I'm not getting excited until we can at least pull off three consecutive victories, something which has yet to be done this year.

Doc, is owning any/most of NJ a thing to brag on? :D

next year, maybe I'll come down and join the party...

Re: RPI Hockey 2014-2015: Dedicated to Rich Curadi

Surely there is room for honest constructive criticism. The fact remains that despite having a highly talented gang of student-athletes season after season, our record does not reflect the sum of our parts. What is especially heartbreaking is those games where our guys don't seem to be motivated. Look, I don't have the answers and I'm certainly not calling for anyone to be "fiar'd", but something, somehow, somewhere needs to change. But hey, enough of my yapping.

Let us not forget about that honest, constructive criticism. Assuming "relaxed" academic standards are off the table, what else could be done to improve the program substantively? Certainly, adding another layer of middle management is NOT an answer. Someone in the program has to "moneyball" this situation and increase efficiency, but it feels to me like business-as-usual is okay with the powers-that-be. Not to get all "Flaggy" here, but it is one win, over a pretty lame team. That said, I, and my blood pressure are very happy for that win. Once more, into the fray.....
