The post only says they are committed to play hockey in college. However, maybe they can play both sports. You are assuming the men's rules and the women's eligibility rules are the same. On the men's side they vary by sport. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they also vary by gender.
This is weird. AL can't play soccer at RPI unless she is a hockey walk-on, and if she were a walk-on, she would not sign a NLOI.
