RPI Engineers 2016-2017: 10 Years on

Re: RPI Engineers 2016-2017: 10 Years on

Looks like I never posted this after the Princeton/Quinnipiac weekend. We lost those. This run of the simulation has us in a virtual dead heat with Harvard right on the 8/9 line, though just behind. If I ran it again, we might end up slightly ahead. We absolutely need to come out of this weekend with at least three points. Let's do it.

RPI KRACH (RRWP): 32.61 (.2946)

MCTs (Mean/Median/Mode/Range):
Points - 14.66 / 15 / 14 / 4 - 28
Rank - 8.85 / 9 / 8 / 3 - 12
Playoffs - 42.0%
Most likely opponent - at Clarkson (23.4%)

Conference Rankings:
  1. Clarkson
  2. SLU
  3. Quinnipiac
  4. Colgate
    —————
  5. Cornell
  6. Princeton
  7. Yale
  8. Harvard

Anything is possible, still missing a few to injury. Really need to score, changing the PP would be nice as well.

Who is out with injuries? I assume Rooney is still out? Any prospect of getting her back would sure lift the team's chances of making the playoffs.

They got two wins though even if one was in OT. Good wins.

I think Harvard has one game.

Four point weekend! As you might expect, that was huge for our playoff chances, almost doubling them. There's almost no chance that we can climb higher than 7th (we sit an expected 10 points behind Cornell), but we can go a long way to solidify our position with a couple wins on the road this weekend. Harvard and Dartmouth won't be easy targets and playing on the road is obviously tough, but this is by no means the hardest weekend left on the schedule.

Two more points push our playoff odds further toward identity, but we now have the Union home-and-home which needs to be a four point weekend. This is the easiest target we're likely to see, so we must convert. We're still only 1.3 points above ninth, so there's time to rest. Let's do it.

RPI KRACH (RRWP): 40.16 (.3270)

MCTs (Mean/Median/Mode/Range):
Points - 17.40 / 17 / 18 / 10 - 29
Rank - 7.76 / 8 / 7 / 3 - 12 (wow, no change!)
Playoffs - 79.6%

I just posted this on the men's thread because the goal was mentioned there, but this goal by Laura Horwood made ESPN's top 10 plays

Three point weekends are like four-point weekends, but way worse, especially when they come against tire fires like Union. We're coming closer and closer to clinching the playoff bid, but next weekend's contests against the North Country pair is expected to yield around an eighth of a win (or a quarter of a point). So on one hand, don't expect anything, but anything we do earn will be a huge boost. We need another two points over our last eight games to push the probability curve into a playoff spot for good, or another eight points to clinch it.

JWHL U19 Report...... Julia Blitz-F-’19-Washington Pride(RPI)-She definitely benefits from playing on the Pride’s top line with Pettey, who creates so many opportunities, but she’s got some really impressive skill for such a young player. ......... Madison Ondrick-F-’19-CYA-A big power forward despite only being in 10th grade. Lots of upside. Her older sister is committed to RPI........ http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/wom...k-delaney-drake-veronika-pettey-morgan-wabick

They could use a couple of those this weekend.

Anyone notice this addition? Sports psychologist? http://rpiathletics.com/sports/2014/1/22/GEN_0122140656.aspx

Re: RPI Engineers 2016-2017: 10 Years on

Well, we lost both games, but it wasn't much of a surprise. Scoring a pair of goals each night is a decent consolation prize. Now we march forth to central New York to hopefully scratch out a point or two.

Any news on the RPI player that was injured in the Clarkson game and left on a stretcher?

Haven't heard anything and I doubt we will hear anything from the team or the institution. I understand that college sports teams like to keep injury information close to the chest but for everyone who witnessed Taylor Schwalbe lying motionless on the ice for 25 minutes it sure would be nice to get some indication of whether or not she is okay. In the meantime, I guess we will just have to worry and hope for the best.
