RPI@Dartmouth 1/6/18

Re: RPI@Dartmouth 1/6/18

The older I get, the more OC I seem to become about all sorts of things. IMHO, that is one of the least important.

Personally I think you have to be a bit OC to be successful at most things. I never thought i would ever find someone more compulsive than either myself or Jenny. We tend to resist all sorts of change and stick to old traditional ways of doing things.

If it works, why change?

Do coaches take a special course in how to make things seem better than they are? Seems like they all sound similar when their teams are floundering. They usually can find a silver lining somewhere in those thunder storm clouds.

What's the alternative? "Our team is crap. We might as well have not shown up at all tonight."

Of course not but it starts to sound monotonous and repetitive. Perhaps it might be a little different if the coach could point out what he sees as being not done correctly and what can be done by HIM to address those?

I listened to Smith's comments on last nights game, and I am sure that he saw a different game than I did.

Well, you're not going to go into a conference saying "we suck", because then you're going to lose everyone's confidence, especially the room. Gotta have something to build on, since in the college game, you can't exactly "clean house".

Re: RPI@Dartmouth 1/6/18

Dude-Wish the entire tech segment fel that way. Hate to have to keep updating things.

In the case of the tech segment, being in it myself, that's more of a case of "we want to do more and do it faster", and so since the basic hardware changes, so does everything else have to evolve. And, sort of like a car, a computer is a depreciable asset, so eventually it will bust down.

You don't expect him to give that away, do you? If we hear it, so does the opposition. Never expose your weaknesses, for they will be heavily focused.

There is a big difference between saying that he saw a lot of good things last night (in a 3-0 shutout loss) and talking about the few things that he can address as coach that we all seem to be seeing.

Do you not think by now that our weaknesses are pretty obvious to every team that scouts us or sees film of us? Gosh, almost all of us here can list what needs to be addressed.
