RPI @ Cornell, Saturday Nov 13th

fr. joe

Retired Goalie
The coach's post-game talk probably centered on 'not playing to our identity or strength' at Colgate. And he would be right.
We've played stronger games... but the season is young. Put last night aside and play a strong game tonight against an always tough Cornell team...

Let's go, Red!

I hope the team can put last nights game in the rear view mirror.
I thought that we played a decent first period, and when we tied the score we should have been energized. Instead it was Colgate who upped their game and I just don't think that we were ready for that.
New night new game.

Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!

Have to call it like it was we played a poor game in almost all respects. Give Colgate a lot of credit for forcing that and doing whatever it took to get us out of our style of play and simply beat us on the scoreboard, on important faceoffs, and keeping us fro getting the good chances and looks we need. We better come out and play a full game in all respects or this will be a road sweep against us. if this is is our worst game of the season, best to get it over with early in the year. if not, then we still have a lot of work to do. Let's Go Red!!

Will be watching the women's game and will try to post the odd update without cluttering up this thread too much. I hope that RPI fans dont mind me posting here: I figure that there are probably more who follow the RPI women on this thread than on the women's thread, but let me know if I am posting too much here.

Perry Laskaris and Dan Fridgen on the RPITV womens broadcast again. Doesn't get any better than that.

Key game for the wom-Engineers. At this point it looks like you could throw a blanket over RPI, Dart, Brown, Cornell, and SLU for the the 6,7,8 spots in the playoffs

Will Cornell be allowing full student attendance for the men's game tonight? Great atmosphere in Lynah when the student body is there in force.

give credit to the Cornell women. Based on their record I had not expected that they would be this sort of tough checking team.

Congrats to the football team for a DRAMATIC win over Union!

Dramatic? Hardly covers it. We scored a TD on the last play of the half on a long pass that was partially deflected to close to 10-7. We scored a TD near the end of the game with 24 seconds left to get to 17-16. We missed a try for 2 points. We recovered the onside kick and then we kicked a FG with 4 seconds left to win 19-17 by a young man who was not on the team a week ago (he was on the RPI soccer team). Now that was indeed dramatic!!!!!!!

After 2 periods it is Cornell 2, RPI women 1. Tough and important game.

Unlike the mens' ECAC, the women actually have to compete for a playoff birth. In the mens' ECAC is any regular season game ever that important? When will they change that to make the regular season more relevant?

Fans need to be given a reason to go to a regular season game. It cannot be seen as just an exhibition season.

If you cant play at least .500 hockey you need to just pack up your equipment bag and move on. The men's game is just far too forgiving in terms of granting playoff berths and NCAA tourney admissions. Make the regular season count for something!

This is one (of several) reasons that I find the women's game so much more exciting.
