RPI@Cornell 02/03/23

I would have started this thread earlier this morning but totally forgot it was Friday and we had a game to play. We are a 2 goal underdog today and and a 1.5 underdog tomorrow. I have always enjoyed starting the threads when we are not supposed to be even close. This is why I am so sure we win tonight! BTW the girls are a 1 goal favorite against Brown today and a huge 3 goal underdog tomorrow against Yale. Let's Go Red!!

The women's game against Brown is pretty much a must win game to stay in the playoff race. Their remaining 5 games after that are all tough but they need to pull off a couple of upsets, which they are quite capable of doing, the way they have played since the break. Yale, 'though would be the biggest upset. Today's Harvard / Princeton game may determine which team they are chasing for eighth place.

Although I do not follow as closely as you do, I have exactly the same thoughts. Today is a must win. Tomorrow just staying competitive for me would be surprising and very welcome. After that it has to just be a game by game thing. They have a very big hill to climb to make the playoffs but there still is a narrow pathway. Third periods have often been the problem (but sometimes that has been their best 20 minutes). I am not ready to chalk up this year. I wish I felt the same way about the men's team. They will have to show me something this weekend or i will be thinking about next year.
 
I feel sorry for the women’s teams. Wind chill right now in Troy is minus 20. Clarkson and SLU are more in the minus 40 range. Won’t be much of a crowd at HFH tonight.

Have to go to a meeting tonight. Hope to be back posting by the end of the game. Let’s go Cherry and White!
 
Brown leading the women Engineers 1-0 at end of first. Shots are 12-3 in favour of RPI but the Brown goal was by impressive freshman Jade Iginla, and yes she is the daughter of the great Jerome Iginla.
 
Brown goes up 3-0 on the women despite RPI dominating play, but now RPI gets one, so it is 3-1 Brown with a minute to go in the second. Kaiser got the RPI goal. She is the only real sniper on the team.
