RPI @ Colgate 2/21/15

Re: RPI @ Colgate 2/21/15

Is it my imagination or is it every time we start running around in our end we go to where the puck is rather than to where it will be? There is no anticipation. That is how other teams (read Cornell) control the puck for 1:30 without our touching it.

Re: RPI @ Colgate 2/21/15

We seem to have only one line forechecking-everyone else dropping back. Most teams against us just keep sending in their forecheck knowing that we will turn around and pass back towards our own goal. DeepRed has it right-we are not skating to open up the ice and trying to anticipate where the puck will be going. We are waiting for the puck to arrive instead of moving to it. Although not a terrible period, we spent far too much time circling around in our own zone.

Outshot again 8-4. You can't win games that way.

Well, you can but its not easy. We were outshot 8-4 last night in the first and almost pulled out a win, so it is possible.

Halfway through the second in Ithaca. 2-0 Cornell.

We haven't seemed to be in ill humor in quite some time. Much as i hate to say it, there is a lot of just going through the motions out there. You cannot play defense by simply waving at the guys coming in. You have to use strength and force and hit. Even at the risk of being called for a penalty(we obviously get called more than almost any opponent we play any way).
