RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

I remember that game, too. Yes, it was in January 1968.

My parents, who lived in Hoosick Falls, brought a group of people from their church to see that game and my mother was sort of mortified at the way it turned out.

They managed to talk the same group into another RPI hockey game the next year. My mother assured everybody that the Colgate game had been totally atypical and nothing like that was likely to happen again.

The fireworks weren't quite as extensive - but the game they went to was the Middlebury game - the one at which Tom Nichol cold-cocked one of the Middlebury players during the postgame handshake. :o

I was in my second year of Medical School-came back for almost every game since I was just across the river in Albany. That Colgate game was pretty well attended and the crowd was just ugly. I have been looking back though all my programs to see who the ref was(totally lost control of that game early) but here in NJ I do not go back that far with my memorabilia. The older stuff is upstate NY.

I didn't record the ref's name in my program.

I think we have enough talent to win this game, I am not sure that we will have enough chemistry.
The line up has a lot of guys on both offense and defense playing with strangers.
I don't think we will lack motivation, but did these guys get enough practice together to play like a team?

Line chart http://www.rpiathletics.com/documents/2014/1/31/2013-14MHKYLineChart_atCLK.pdf?id=1760. We're playing one short obviously because of the travel limit. Neither Wood nor Fulton are in the lineup.
Unless Wood and Fulton are both hurt, I can't agree with the decision to play shorthanded so all 4 guys can return tomorrow. I would have sat either Dolan or Curardi against SLU and suited up a full squad for Clarkson - they are the stronger opponent. Who knows what's behind it all but geez OGC gets to play with 18 skaters on his team and whoever is acting coach tonight only gets 17. Gee thanks boss!

Which would you want not to return? Two of the skaters have to stay in Troy since we apparently can only take 23 players on a road trip.

18 tonight plus 2 goalies makes 20. 3 of the 4 suspended would return tomorrow. 20 + 3 = 23. What am I missing Ralph?
