Just thinking a bit-if at the end of last saturday's game-even a larger melee broke out and the officials DQ'ed 12-15 RPI boys---would this game been a forfeit because of not having enough players to field a team? A very short handed RPI tonight will try to keep our substitute coach's record perfect. Let's Go What's Left of Red!!!

Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

There are certainly going to be some people MIA for tonight's game, but last week's ECAC goaltender of the week should be ready to go for RPI.

When a team is short-handed, it's awful nice to have a hot goalie to compensate. Hope Diebold stays sharp.

Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

Even with the suspensions, we will still have a lot of talent on the ice for tonight's game.
There is certainly enough offensive talent to get the job done. Defensively, we are going to need a big effort from some little used players. This is there chance to show what they are made of.
Go out and take this game.

Lets go red!!!!!!!!!!!

12-15 wouldn't be enough to get to forfeit level. There is no rule that you need to be able to substitute. However we might as well forfeit if it got to the level that you mentioned.

Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

The sad thing about the whole incident from last weekend is that we lose 4 players for the Clarkson game while the other team only loses 3 players against a weaker SLU team. A win tonight would be one of the most improbable victories of the season and would be a real momentum builder for the final 9 games. Play hard and Let's go RED!

Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

Although there should be 4 seniors in the line up tonight one could see the line up as a possibility of what nexts years team will be like if Haggs leaves after this year and big Z and Bro have any injuries and need to be out some games.

Re: RPI @ Clarkson, Friday, 1/31/2014

Not sure the best thread to catch 1988, but his SLU pick for PtC needs to change before puck drop tonight.

With the suspension rules in place now-wonder would have been the case for that game I think you and i both remember back when Colgate and RPI got into the brawl that left only 8 total players on the ice and the game ended prematurely. ?January 1968? but not totally sure of the date.

Let's not start with the leaving early crap. There is no chance of that.

Washington DC is sure the right place for you to live. Alot of your posts belong on the fence.

I remember that game, too. Yes, it was in January 1968.

My parents, who lived in Hoosick Falls, brought a group of people from their church to see that game and my mother was sort of mortified at the way it turned out.

They managed to talk the same group into another RPI hockey game the next year. My mother assured everybody that the Colgate game had been totally atypical and nothing like that was likely to happen again.

The fireworks weren't quite as extensive - but the game they went to was the Middlebury game - the one at which Tom Nichol cold-cocked one of the Middlebury players during the postgame handshake. :o

In such a case, I suspect what would happen now is similar to what the NBA did to the Knicks in 1996-97 in the playoffs vs. the Pacers. With so many Knicks facing suspension for leaving the bench (hmmm), the NBA split the suspensions over two games, so that the Knicks could field enough players for the next game.

The hope here is that our fill-in players have to step up. This is their chance to show what they can do given significant ice time.

RPI's lines are up: http://www.rpiathletics.com/documents/2014/1/31/2013-14MHKYLineChart_atCLK.pdf?id=1760

Forwards:

Bourbonnais-Higgs-(empty spot)
Laliberte-Bubela-Neal
McGowan-Miller-Schroeder
Tinordi-Rogic-DeVito

Defense:
Leboeuf-Leonard
Bradley-Hampton
Bokenfohr-Reno

Diebold in net.

Not in:
Curadi, Zalewski, Haggerty, Dolan (suspensions from Mayor's Cup), Fulton, Wood

I would just love it if that new guy-Empty Spot-scores the winning goal!!! i hope someone in the locker room is there to introduce the new linemates to each other and make sure they know who everyone is.:) Honestly just hoping we can have a great effort from everyone-I think we are going to need every break and bounce to go our way. This is a good Clarkson team and Potsdorf is usually not kind to us even under good circumstances. Let's Go Light Red!!!

Do you honestly think that is how the fair minded ECAC would treat us? We would have to forfeit and probably be lucky we did not serve some jail time in addition.
