RPI @ Brown, Friday, 1/29/16

WE WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Big game, big time comeback, lots of posters on here tonight and when it became 3-0 there was no one who felt we win this one. We have not been a third period team and the past two games we have been flat out great.

Doc! I said they had a chance against this goalie :D

I think some posters on this thread that claim to be RPI fans but posts as if their not, need to read this article. It can do wonders.

Also, reading this thread, I can also tell that certain posters weren't communications majors, but should have a degree in backtracking.

Yes you did. But did you think we would bury 4 (could have been 5) of those chances? Watching this game gave you a lot more than listening. The scoresheet certainly tells you who scored and who got assists. But when you watched you could see which lines just were flying and keeping Brown in their zone. Even if they did not score much, our number 1 line tonight had a lot of territorial advantage. Brown was in our end for the first 20-30 minutes of this game and then it was like throwing on the light switch. Schroeder 9who is indeed having a very good year) Nanne and Melanson just kept them backing up and prevented much set up time in our zone. Others scored but Brown was put on their heels and took two penalties that got us into the game. This is the complete reverse of what we usually see. I am flabbergasted that we did not take more than 1 penalty all night and nothing at all in the third period. Congrats to the boys that plucked 2 points our of nothing. Jen and i can now have a celebratory drink. This one deserves an ice cold blast of Van Gogh Vanilla Vodka with a shot of cherry juice and 3 Maraschino Cherries ( our so called cherry vanilla). Cheers boys!!!

Big win going into Yale tomorrow night. After falling behind a physical team 3-0, it's a good sign that our Red came back to win. :D
Don't let it go to our heads, we have another tough game tomorrow night. Yale will have that extra jump going to salvage their weekend at the Whale.

Very competitive, motivated opponents on the road: welcome to the ECAC. ;)

A lot of us are drinking to that tonight, Doc!

Lol, no, but I was open to the possibility.

Should be noted the team came alive when Seth shortened the bench. Jared Wilson and Mike P were massive on D.

Correct. A win jumps Dartmouth over us. A tie with Q would leave us a hair above them.

Re: RPI @ Brown, Friday, 1/29/16

Just got back to hotel after the game. Brown is big and physical. Our game just did not match up the first period. Although many here have criticized SA for not being able to change his game plan during the game, I think he did a great job opening up the offense and speeding up the game. After going down 3-0, it's very hard to dictate the pace of play, but between the stretch passes and finding open ice, we made Brown try to play our game. I credit this win to SA changing his game plan as well as the determination and grit from the boys on the ice. Great comeback, one of the best I've seen from RPI hockey.

BTW, I've played intramural games at HFH at 1am that had more fans at the game. I realize that Brown had a home basketball game against Princeton, but come on! Could not have had more than 1000, including both bands.
