RPI at Brown, Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025

We have moved from last place to a tie for 8th with Harvard (assuming that Union beats Yale tonight). Nice weekend, boys. Good luck in the North Country trip next weekend…

it’s been about 30 years since we’ve seen this exact phrase

Longer - IIRC in his last year he scored 31 goals but none of those were ENG. I cannot remember the previous two years at RPI if he scored any that way. This could actually be the first time for this phrase - and I hope not the last!!!!!!!!!

According to DrD, Brad didn't score ENGs. Bryan maybe.

At least not in his last year when he scored 31 (which no one at RPI has surpassed since). You could be right though about Bryan who was often on the ice to protect the lead late in games. I suspect Brad would have been given a penalty for something had he been out there late!!

On the other hand - i have been told when Eric Healey scored 30 (just previous to the 31 scored by Tapper) he had several ENG. he made sure he was on the ice if we had the lead late specifically for that purpose to perhaps add an easy score to his total.

Women lost 4-0 to Quinnipiac this afternoon at HFH. I was there for the first two periods and RPI was totally dominated for most of the game. They had a difficult time clearing the defensive zone. Kind of reminded me of the men’s team…

Agree totally - the previous game with Princeton ended with a loss 7-2 but the score did not do the game justice. Our girls played a much better game and the game could have and should have been far closer as the stat sheets showed. We had a few defensive lapses and some really unusually poor goal tending (Keating is usually just rock solid). Even with the score as it was it just never felt like we coul dnot perhaps get back into it somewhat.
Today the final score of 4-0 also did not do the game justice. it could and should have been far worse. QU was the first touch on every puck. Won every race to the puck, won every puck battle and had so much excellent chances to score I lost count. They were faster, bigger, rougher and fr more skilled. They took advantage of our much smaller and obviously injured and short handed defensive corps. And it did not help when Trnkova took one to the head and had to be removed from the game for the end of the first period (she did come back for the second period). This one felt like we were out of it for the entire time.
