RPI@Alaska-Anchorage

Re: RPI@Alaska-Anchorage

Second period ends with RPI up 2-1.
First goals for two of our freshmen. Sounds like we got our energy after the first intermission.

Re: RPI@Alaska-Anchorage

So much for the "Dreaded Second Period". :)
We'll find out a bit about conditioning in the next 20 minutes. Long plane ride, playing on a big sheet of ice, we will need everyone skating all 20 minutes. Always feel that the Olympic sized rink is a bigger adaptation for the defensemen with those wide deep corners than it is for forwards. Goalies have to adapt some also to the angles but it is a more tiring 60 minutes to play.

Re: RPI@Alaska-Anchorage

Have we really seen much of one yet this year? *knocks on the wooden desk*

I had coined that phrase years ago-when it just seemed that we had the worst middle period most of the time. It hasn't applied as much over the past few years when the third period has surpassed it.

And even then, it was a paraphrase of the "dreaded third period".

Absolutely true on all counts, Doc.
My previous post was just meant for a certain poster who has been known for certain negative comments in regards to the middle stanza.
BTW, Union gave up another late third period goal and ended up with a 1-1 tie against Maine.
