RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

Neutral Zone has moved Evaschesen from 2026 to 2027. We are the 18th best recruit class for 2026 and still #1 in the ECAC. We are #55 for 2027 with just 3 recruits; Evaschesen, Witkowski and Chingwaru.

Like many I’m still pissed off about the way it played out, but it’s obvious that Evaschesen’s hometown team has pushed all of its chips to the center of the table in pursuit of a WHL championship and Memorial Cup. Acquiring him for a batch of future talent was undoubtedly pitched as a key step that could push the team he followed as a kid over the top. I’m still doubtful about his ultimate likelihood to end up at any college, but I can understand his decision. I don’t like it, but I understand it. Leave it to Lang as to whether he’s considered a 2027 recruit, but make sure to have Plan B and Plan C.

How about "RPI 2026–27: Smith and Evaschesen Won't Have to Learn How to Spell Rensselaer"? :(

A bit too negative for me. We’ve spent 15 years with tag lines either apologizing for who we are or trying desperately to find glimmers of hope. Yes, we’ve had a bad couple of weeks, but even without those boys I still think we are moving in the right direction and I don’t think it’s delusional. Smith is effectively dead to me and Evaschesen is on life support, so why do i want to spend the next 6 months looking for their names to discuss RPI hockey?

That had the correct effect. It resulted in more suggestions. I could always bring up The Cross of Canton. :D

🤔 🤔 🤔
It proves nothing, but rpi_mhockey is following his Instagram account. https://www.instagram.com/leoserlin/https://www.instagram.com/leoserlin/ I could follow Serlin's account and find out if it works the other way also, but that still wouldn't prove anything.

A few tidbits and thoughts from the golf outing:

HFH Project
- Rink project is in fact behind schedule, at least from the initial project timeline. It was supposed to be completed in time for students return
- Lang was biting his tongue, but clearly wasn't thrilled the ice isn't ready. Teams will skate at Frear Park in the interim
- Bowers indicated that the ice will be installed starting on Sept. 11th...which of course is only possible if and dependent on:
- Boards and glass have not yet arrived on site.... ( I do not know if they are delayed, or just en route)
