RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

I've been told by a reliable source that the project is on schedule to be ready for the home opener weekend 10/9 - 10/10.
The women open at home on October 2, so I would hope the project was planned to conclude early enough to get in some practices on home ice before then. Is there an open rink nearby where they can buy ice time in the interim?

I am sure whatever temporary ice time that is needed has been secured. The City operates the Knickerbacker rink in Lansingburgh which was recently renovated with a new ice sheet after several years of not having ice. I would guess that is where the teams will practice in the interim. Albany County also has a rink near the airport and there is a rink at the YMCA in Delmar which is where the Devils/Rats often practiced. So there are options.

I wonder if Frear Park has ice yet? That would be closer.

I was gonna say I’m sure they have everything planned for off campus ice.

Less than 24 hours away from getting him, was supposed to fly today. Unbelievable

Wow does that suck.... damn. With both Smith and Evaschesen it's certainly possible that the impending reality of the "student" side of the student-athlete equation became a factor in their 180s from RPI....especially as you mentioned being so close to reporting day.

Unbelievable is right and honestly pretty fucked up.

Some days you are the hammer, some days you are the nail. But if recruits are not committed to the requirements of being a student-athlete, it is better in the long run that they don't come.

Yep, with both him and Smith, it leaves us in one hell of a bind. Very difficult to add anyone this late and almost impossible to add anyone of their quality. We also previously said no to some good players the past couple of months because we didn't have space...

Have these players committed elsewhere?

Yes it does, I doubt any of those players would be available this late and would coach lang even try to add this late? 24 hrs before he’s to be on campus he suddenly realized schools not for him??? And leaves the program high and dry? Who does this…. Oh well good luck to you young man

sez what about Eero Butella? Previously committed to Northeastern? Looks like he’s uncommitted. Has size, skill, passing, right shot as well. Can play C/W

This happens far more often than we know - not only with recruits in hockey but in everyday life. it has happened in the past but i think I am seeing it far more common now. You ask Who does this? I am sure you already have formulated the answer to that question!!
