RPI 2026 Off-Season: Please Pardon Our Appearance As We Upgrade This Area

He wasn't even good at Alaska. The AJHL is a weak league. With guys like Daniel Shlaine, Landen Gunderson, Cade Littler, Lee Parks, John McNelis, Jake Rozzi, David Klee (sound familiar?), and MANY more all available who have USHL scoring pedigree, this is a miss. Plenty more will continue to enter too
Brooks did move to the BCHL while he was there. I do agree that this was a a weird pickup.

I don't disagree that his pedigree raises questions, but it's not as if there aren't some D1 players coming out of that league. Our leading goal scorer two years ago was an AJHL grad with similar junior stats. I'm not sure what happened in Fairbanks (where he was a top 5 points guy as a freshman on a weak team) and Providence (where he struggled for ice time on a league champion), but I don't see the harm in taking him at the right price (by that I don't mean NIL, but impact on roster and scholarship budget). He'll probably be fighting to replace guys like Gorton and Matta at the fringe of the F crew and for that he's likely to be an improvement at little or no cost - with some potential upside. I'm not going to get wired about it and will give Lang the benefit of the doubt that he has a reason for taking this guy.

Get used to this.
There will be much more turn over every year than in the past.
What ever we lose in the portal, we will replace with players from other schools.
Lang has a core of players coming back that will make it easier for the team to come together.
I think that whoever we get, Lang will make it work better that last season.
It will never be easy for a school like ours to be great under these conditions.
But it doesn't mean that we can't improve every year.

Wallace is rumored to be going to Clarkson. Don't let the door hit you on the way out. Worth noting 4/9 of his goals were on empty nets
After the absurd number of empty nets we've missed over the years that's an important skill. However, if he goes to Clarkson (I saw the same rumor on their Round Table site) he's dead to me.

On an unrelated note and not to get into a debate, since I've never seen the kid play so for all I know you may be right, but another attribute in Brendan Ross' favor is that he's a right shot. We've been left side heavy in recent years and the known freshman forward recruits are all left shots.

I'm feeling better about Ross now than I did earlier. Being honest, I got back from Vegas late last night after the Frozen Four and slept terribly and have been grumpy all day because of it LOL

Scouting reports on Ross say his skating is solid for his size with some skill and scoring to go with it. Even if he only puts up 14 points like he did with Alaska, that's not too bad and ideally Buckley and Tapper should take steps on the right side

We used to be able to prescribe pills for that feeling. But there are now restrictions on stuff to make you happy! of course we could resort to the old standby of electro shock therapy 😜

Just means he was on the ice for 9 games that we were leading late and at least 4 that we won. Just another way of looking at those numbers.

Agreed, we'll trust that Lang and Co, have an idea for the kid. A guy that big who can skate will certainly make room on the ice for linemates to create.

The HFH? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p43mWvbyAqQ

Thanks to Marty for posting this on eLynah but not refering to the HFH.
No. But it wouldn't shock me if similar conditions were discovered at HFH....given the band aids and bailing wire they were forced to use to try and maintain operation.
The Flyers training facility in NJ underwent renovations with slab / refrigeration overhaul last year....judging by the Flyers logo in the video, that might've been the location.
