RPI 2025 Off-Season: Help Is On the Way

Agreed! He seemed like a good guy. Wish him well but man he was the worst coach RPI ever had. Good grief it was tough watching his teams. Maybe his style fits ECHL hockey best ? High scoring zero defense.
Worst coach ever, that's a little harsh.
He started out pretty good, Getting the team to the edge of success. Then Covid hit and we stopped playing hockey. We lost players and when we got back to playing, it was before empty seats.
The last two years were the worst. But I wouldn't put all the blame on him.
For two years in a row, the guys on the ice continued to make the same mistakes in every zone. The power play had no power.
The coaching staff has to take a lot of the blame for that, but once again, they were not the guys on the ice.
The first year, you can blame the coaches, the second year in on the players. Lack of talent or, low hockey IQ, I don't know which, but this last year, they played with a lot of enthusiasm, and got nothing to show for it.
While I was glad to see Smith leave, I cannot call him the worst.
I look forward to the new regime and the roster that they put in place.
Lets go RED!!!!

statistically speaking he’s the worst in RPI history. I’m not counting Leroy Clark or Marvin Callan those guys coached less than 50 games back in the 20s and 30s. Take them out of the equation and he’s the worst. Agreed some out of his control but alot was in his control. All behind us now. I look forward to the new chapter. Lang is legit.
