RPI 2025–26: Off the Critical List and In Recovery

RPI did an interview with Bowers last night. She mentioned details as we've related here before, but what was news to me was her stating that they are already underway in corporate fundraising for the HFH Phase II portion $50 million or so -- ( which would be a building addition off of the home bench side of the rink. Space would be for M's and W's locker rooms, training and treatment , meeting rooms offices, etc. Also, she stated they are pursuing a corporate sponsor for naming rights at the HFH i.e. "The Doc and Jenny Center at Houston Field House". So folks should get ready for that to happen at some point.

She mentioned the RPI Forward campaign website : https://giving.rpi.edu/campaign/

Under the "$140mil Renewing Campus Facilities" Tab it shows the exterior of HFH it mentions " updates and expansion at HFH".

Wicked - 50 million is just slightly above my pay grade. i will have to consult with Jenny. That is above what she keeps in her checking account so might have to cash in a couple CD's. ;) Back in the good old days before SAJ, we were Patroons and hoping to contribute again once we are sure about the direction of the school. We removed ourselves when most of our friends either left (forced out) or were fired from the administration.

Understood Doc and have heard similar sentiments from others. I believe Marty is fully onboard and absolutely wants to right the hockey ship... It would be nice if they shared SOMETHING resembling information with the faithful who actually have been carrying the torch through the dark days.

Where can we find the interview?

i wonder how he feels waiving to the crowd on the jumbo tron as the team is getting crushed must be a little weird ...i told my family to keep patience we will see when the ecac starts thats what these games are suppose to help with leaughe play

Not at all unexpectedly, no current or known future RPI players are on the NHL CSB's Preliminary Players to Watch list. https://media.d3.nhle.com/image/private/t_document/prd/wie2axdger9u2k2ycr4r.pdf
Thanks for the posting RB. I gave the list a cursory look and did not see any current ECAC players on the list. In that regard we may not be so different from the other 11 teams. i did see in the future recruit list about 14 ECAC recruits (Harvard represented pretty well) which does not seem like an abnormally high number. As you say though, not at all unexpected that we have none on the list at all.

Corporate sponsor for naming rights at the HFH??? The place is hardly ever open anymore!!! About a dozen and a half men's hockey games a year, about the same amount of women's games and then a few more venue openings here and there for stage performers no one has ever heard off until they walk by a poster hanging somewhere on a Fieldhouse wall!!! Only would have been worth any company's money from the 1950's through the mid 1980's (maybe) when hockey games drew sufficient numbers and the names of the then very frequent stage performers were household names.

Today, who the hell would put up a stash of cash to have their name on the place unless, maybe, they got the naming rights for absolute peanuts!!! Remember that this is the very same place that by circa 2010 could not even find a company sponsor for what by then was reduced to a stinking two day holiday hockey tournament and would have only cost any company a few peanuts!!! Since no peanuts could be found anywhere, a Capital District holiday staple dating back six decades went down the drain.

Hard for anyone who has virtually lived their entire life within five miles of the building and used to go there quite often for all kinds of events to see any realistic and/or relevant current day income stream coming from naming rights. That bus left the terminal a long time ago (before anybody even heard of naming rights) and it's just way too late for that.

Early odds for next weekend shows the boys as 2.5 goal underdog at Minnesota State. The girls also 2.5 goal underdog to SLU and 1.5 underdog to Clarkson. i have seen Clarkson a couple times and I think the odds makers are being a bit optimistic for us. i suspect the spread should be greater. Football has us as a 47.5 point favorite over Hilbert. I hope that is not a misprint!!

Corporate sponsor for naming rights at the HFH??? ....
I don't make the news, I just report it....LOL. Well. we're all gonna find out the answer -- if and when they announce who it is. If Marty is leaning into this as much as everyone says that he is (Bowers, Lang, etc.) then he will get it done. The guy was a rain maker at MIT...

Nobody wants them to succeed and raise enough money to be competitive again after two decades of being anything but more than me. Just wish I could see a path that would make it worth stripping off the name of the person responsible for building the place in 1949 and replacing it with some outfits' name that wrote a freaking check. Unfortunately, do not see any entity ponying up enough scratch for that to happen.
