RPI 2025–26: Off the Critical List and In Recovery

In one of our conversations with Bowers, she definitely mentioned doing away with the cooridor along the boards. My guess is that they'll configure the new ice surface concrete slab and board installation, to allow for this down the road....
The other orientation issue I'm curious about is that the current front rows are above ice level, unlike many arenas. I wonder if the fully refurbished HFH would have front row seats at ice level.

Excellent question. I think the finished elevation of the new ice surface will tell us a lot about their future plans.

We played many a late night/early morning intramural game in HFH and IIRC the ice was at the same level as the rest of the arena. It was lowered in '82, presumably in anticipation of the original plan to move the walkway to the top of the stands and extending seating to the boards. I presume that's the source of the plan Bowers cited.

Lang thoughts from last weekend and this week's matchups... overall he liked the effort both nights and the team is starting to play like we thought we could play as we mapped out the season. Strong defensive effort, etc. Riding Krawchuk tonight to see how he responds from two losses . Mention of renovations starting with the ice this spring/summer.

starts at about 40:00.

I was at the game tonight. There were 3 photo boards setup in the lobby displaying the proposed renovations to the field house. I took photos of them and was going to post them here. However, my IT skills are diminished and I cannot figure out how to do it. Do I have to post them somewhere else and then post a link to them here?

I am pretty sure that you cannot post them directly here. You can defintiely post them on your own cloud site and post a link. You can probably use the "insert image" icon to insert the image that is on your own or someone's site.

I only saw the first period of last night’s game, which left me thinking it was going to be a close game but we had a chance to pick up a lbadly needed home win against a team with zero wins on the road. I was shocked to see the final score. After a road weekend during which the Engineers played 5 strong periods against two of the best teams in the league, perhaps, in addition to a renovation, we need a FH exorcism.

A exorcism on the FH is needed. Some weird ju ju going there lol

Thanks for the images, interesting to see them. Looks like an entirely new arena - does raise the question of why not just build one. But presumably the phased fundraising process might allow progress over time more easily.

Strange that the plans show stairs and an escalator only in one corner. I'd think for crowd movement you'd need many more ways to get up to the new walkway level.

And wonder if they'll try to move students to the end section. Would be logical, but throws off the balance of where fans will be sitting.

Thanks from me also. I would also think that fire laws would require more ways of leaving the upper level.

I am concerned about all the thin players we seem to be recruiting. ;)

I'm concerned there only seem to be eight of them.

Also that the play on the ice is so boring that the fans are looking the opposite direction. Maybe they're confused because RPI and our opponents are all wearing white.

R-P-AI perhaps?

Interesting strategy having our boys come out wearing the same colors as the opponent in an effort to entice them to pass the puck to us instead. In the old days, I m sure if that was possible, coach Harkness would have tried it!
