RPI 2025-2026

An in addition to that bad news https://ecachockey.com/news/2025/9/...ell-tabbed-as-league-favorite-in-2025-26.aspx, Andrea Trnková was named to the all-league preseason team.

Clarkson is going to be a very difficult team to beat if their #13 (our former #89) stays healthy. It appeared she was playing a bit hurt the latter part of last season for us but was still a force on the ice. She most likely will get her share of penalty minutes but Clarkson was a better team at defending short handed than we were.

Our ladies are listed as a 1.5 goal underdog for both first weekend games. I have no idea what to expect going in to this season and just hoping for an upside surprise!!

Always exciting to see the Engineers back on ice. But I don't think that there has ever been a year in their D1 history when the outlook for the season has looked so bleak. Nowhere to go but up from here, I guess?

I am not quite looking at it with pessimism. i do think, however, that how well this team is coached will be of utmost importance this year with many new faces on the ice and having lost so much from last year. I saw the coaches poll and understand the thinking but still feel the bottom 4 spots in the league are pretty much a toss up and my own prediction is anywhere from 8-12. of course i would not rule out a finish as high as 7th but a lot of things have to fall into place for that to happen.
BTW i do not see any video stream for the games this weekend (Friday or Saturday) even though we are playing both games at home.

Bottom 4 for certain. And when I look at the other bottom teams I see more success at recruiting and retaining talent. So, 12th place place seems realistic, and depressing.

I posted this information on the men's thread, but it makes sense to post it here. It was revealed on Thursday that Matthew Jovanovic will be playing defense for the men this season. Due to injuries he has not played for several years but was highly regarded before that and was a Notre Dame commit.

He has a younger sister, Sophie, a 5'11" goalie, who played goal for the 16U Toronto Marlboro boy's team last season where she had a 1.71 GAA. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/987231/sophie-jovanovic

Neutral Zone gives her 4.25 *'s.

I wonder what the chance is that we could get her in two years.
Sophie Jovanovic announced a couple days ago that she committed to Wisconsin. Who knows, but guessing RPI probably wasn't a close #2 . . .

This sort of post stabs me in the heart, because it is so painfully true. In the early years of RPI's D1 history the Tute was seen as an attractive, up and coming team and a desirable place to play. The only thing that can lift this team up to a respectable level is if the current players rise to the challenge and exceed expectations. I think they can do it, and that is what keeps me in their corner.

Could not agree more.

*RPI showing their care as much about their women's program as they do their men's program by making the long overdue change to the bench boss.

There, fixed it for you! ;)

Not a terrible showing for a first game tonight. this was a 1-0 game and then 2 empty netters at the end. We showed quite a bit of good most of the game winning a large percentage of face offs, killing off multiple penalties and for most of the game out shooting the opposition. But of course the score tells the tale as we just could not put one into the net. Better luck tomorrow. Go Red!

Thank you! No idea how Brian vines is still the coach. It’s nuts
So you complain about the coaching on the men's thread until they make a change. Here you are on the women's thread doing the same. Are you a coach killer?? What makes you an expert on coaching hockey?

Do you really need to be an expert on coaching when the guy has a .321 winning percentage with 0 winning seasons in 8 years? In year three coaching the girls he went 0-33? By all reasonable metrics that’s bad like really bad. I think most would like someone else to get a shot at the job.? Jesus

Watched both games this past weekend. #3 and #88 are going to be just fine. Might not miss #89 as much defending. But girls took far too many penalties in both games and we still suffer from some of the same problems as previous years. It seems we just run out of gas during the last couple minutes of the first two periods and far most noticeable in the third period where we are over whelmed during the many of the shifts latte in the game. Could it be that we shorten the bench late in the games and do not have fresh legs out there in the third period? Worth mentioning that on the fly line changes often seem to occur with poor timing. Does seem like these are coaching issues that could be addressed.

I watched part of the first game and my impression was that both teams are bad. Time will tell how bad, but I don't see how the team gets into top 8

i agree that 8th would be a stretch. What also seemed apparent is that we are a bigger team than we have been (with a few exceptions) but we have lost a bit of the speed we showed at times last year. Need a couple more games to make any sort of judgement other than what has already been said.
