  • The USCHO Fan Forum has migrated to a new plaform, xenForo. Most of the function of the forum should work in familiar ways. Please note that you can switch between light and dark modes by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right of the main menu bar. We are hoping that this new platform will prove to be faster and more reliable. Please feel free to explore its features.

RPI 2023-24 (Part II): The Search for Special Teams Excellence

I agree with much of this. However, for me, Lee is a coin flip in the cost-benefit analysis. He has legit speed and skill, but as has been agonizingly well documented on this forum, he has a keen knack for taking bad penalties in bad areas at bad moments in games. His situational intelligence needs an extreme makeover.

That said, the last half of your final sentence lays out the ultimate question... "assuming the retention is there." In today's portal reality, that isn't an assumption I can make. Nine of will know what the roster will look like until 5 or so months from now.
Like most of you, I'm expecting a Qpac win tonight but hoping differently. This would be 23 losses. Setting up an interesting off season. With the feasibility study of HFH and a new AD, as some of us have discussed this could be an opportunity for a fresh start. Also, besides the known departures, I'm not very confident that Muzzati and Watson stay. It would give a new regime the ability to configure a roster from scratch. We are risking even more irrelevance if we continue down this path. The ball is firmly in Bowers lap. I was struck again last night by the disparity in SOG and Face off outcomes.

Rightttt you definitely are hoping for a win. Seeing as you only come on here to take a victory lap about SA and BB after a loss, and never comment after a win, I highly doubt you are rooting for anything but Smith getting fired

Kinda like you crap talk Watson to prop up Smith Look, I'll stack up my support of this program to anyone throughout the years. You own Smith. I warned you and others when the extension was signed but alas. You are part of the problem because you accept less than mediocrity.

Proving my point exactly. You’d rather stick it to all of us that you are right so chill with the hollow words that you are “hoping otherwise” because the only thing you come on here to do is tell us your right

I also literally provided analytics as to why Watson’s numbers indicate he perform right around average or slightly above. Big fan of his. Was awesome freshman yr. Said that he isn’t going to get offers to start in Hockey east. Isn’t crap talking it’s the truth, and I think he’s good enough that we can win with him.

I’ll be rooting for the Engineers tonight. And if the season ends tonight, I trust (like we all seem to) in Dr Bowers and Marty to make the correct decisions for the program. The book on them has been excellent respectively, and I have full faith they are moving athletics in the right direction

Let me clear with you. 1) I was responding to WS (whose opinions have been spot on IMO) about the future of the program. Wasn't interacting with you. 2) You put me on blast and didn't like that I went back at you (Take it as good as you give). Again, for you to question my allegiance to the Cherry and White is absurd and offensive to me. I was a long-time season tix holder, went to every golf tourney and brought at least two foursomes with me. Troyboy and I went to every year end banquet (which I don't believe they do anymore.). I developed a specialty game with the previous coach and spent countless hours working on it and publicizing in the community. Been in every ECAC rink. TB and I won the bid to travel with the team on a couple of occasions (no small chunk of change), etc. etc. 4) I didn't post for a long time in deference to the present staff but it is my right as fan to call this out. It's born out in the Ws/Ls. And your damn right I call posters out on the Barr miscue and their defense of this hire. Because if we whiff again, it could be an extinction event for the program. As we approach Passover and Easter, my best to you and your loved ones.
