Anyone got some line predictions?

Mine would be
Hotson - Lee - Brushett
Budy - Muzzatti - Heidemann
Tinling - Beaton - Gagnon
Brackett - McNeil - Evans

Sertti - Agnew
Strom - Smolinski
Ardanaz - Regula
Matta/Davies

That’s what I have except I have tinling on the 2nd line replacing budy. Muzzatti replacing lee on 1st line.

In honor of John Beaton and Nina Christof, today is 20 September 2023. There are 17 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 7 October 2023 for the start of next season.

Hockey- only odds we could find so far show the RPI women as a 1.5 goal favorite over RIT for Saturday afternoon.
Football - and I have never seen this kind of thing before - RPI listed as a 49 point favorite over Dean for this Saturday late afternoon game with a 100% chance of victory!

Based on the Instagram story, looks like the men’s team has some new home uniforms. Some echoes of the ‘85 shirt template with a wide red panel from the collar down the sleeve to the cuff, but with “Rensselaer” on the front in simple block text above the player’s number

If the real world took action on these games, this would be $100 on Dean in a heartbeat for the simplest reason of all. A coaching staff that has NEVER EVER shown any interest or desire to keep pouring it on any hapless or overmatched opponent for long enough to cover 49 points. In fact, the same thing applied to the staff who preceded these guys for a quarter century or so.

Yes, I was there. Not crazy about the Rensselaer on the front of the jersey. There were some good things and bad things about the event…
Good things- there was a decent size crowd at the event (300-400), the food was good (though I didn’t stay for the ice cream), they introduced both the men’s and women’s teams and each player skated on the ice, and the band played most of the evening including “Hail Dear Old Rensselaer” when the last men’s player was introduced.
Bad things- There was no speeches by anyone welcoming the fans who attended, Jakob Lee was the only player who didn’t skate on the ice (though he was there), and my opinion on the new jerseys.
I left at 7 PM so if anything else happened after that, I would like to know other than the raffle winners.

The jerseys look awful. If they were going to ditch the most recent set after only 2 years, it would have been nice to have some good ones considering the old ones were pretty solid.

Rensselaer on the front instead of RPI is something that Shirley would have pushed for. I've never been a fan of that marketing. No one knows what the f?ck Rensselaer is because when the school and hockey programs were in their heyday it was always RPI. I don't think I've met a single person who prefers Rensselaer.

Jersey numbers don't belong on the front of any hockey jersey. I've never seen a set of jerseys that have pulled that off.

The sleeves are easily the worst part though. Red running all down the side. Sleeves that run down the side like that and differ from the main color never look good unless you can get some good colors that work well together and some good striping. This has none of that. If they just kept the sleeves white and used some red striping, the jerseys would be greatly improved (but still bad).

Overall, definitely the worst set of jerseys I've been around for. Worst part is that we'll have to wait another 3-5 years for them to cycle out (unless they pull the plug early again)

Based on what I saw on the YouTube video of the event, you are 100% correct. In my opinion, they actually dethrone both the Red Hawk logo and the resulting stupid mascot that more resembled a chicken than a Red Hawk as the worst representations of the RPI brand there ever was.

I also don't like using Rensselaer instead of RPI and the numbers on the front. My recollection is that numbers have to be on the front if they are not on the sleeves, but since these have numbers on the sleeves, the front numbers are not required. Being red-green colorblind, I don't have any problems with the colors used.

Off the top of my head, Harvard and BU both wear (or wore) numbers on the front. That, by itself, might be enough to make me not want to do it on ours. What other teams do so?

BTW, I prefer RPI too and think all sweaters should have Puckman somewhere, but I'm really not offended by this set. I'll get used to them and won't really care in short order.

Youtube has video of the event with the jerseys: https://www.youtube.com/live/RClv6du...k3JJLNIWsqBV-C

You can see Jake Lee not go onto the ice to skate. Hope he's not injured. He fought through big injuries in the back half of both of his seasons here, and it would be great if he could be healthy for the season. They will need him.

My first thought on the video ( I haven't seen the sweaters yet) why did we need to see almost 10 minutes of nothing happening ...lots of darkness ? Ha ha And the camera person was WAY more interested in the ladies team, then the men's ...ha ha

The new men's sweaters look a lot like BU's whites....they also use Under Armour sweaters.... coincidence ? ha ha I don't love 'em and don't hate 'em....there have been many years where I've preferred RPI's road sweaters to the home version....

The sleeves are just bizarre looking. I think they look like Colgate’s sweaters. They also use Under Armour. I must say the sweaters with the exception of last years have been pretty bad past 7-8 year’s. The retro look should be saved for special occasions not the home sweater. It looks silly

At first glance, the sweaters look like the same template Colgate used last year (pictured here: https://colgateathletics.com/news/2023/3/9/mens-ice-hockey-colgate-hits-the-road-for-quarterfinals) which I believe they are not using this year. Was not a fan of how that template worked for Colgate's road uniforms, and I heard that some Colgate alumni were not happy that they moved to a lighter shade of "maroon". Definite '70s-'80s Flyers and Maple Leafs vibes. Maybe would look better with Cooperall pants!

Is there any silver/grey trim on the RPI sweaters? I didn't see any in the clips I saw, and that would bring the sweaters closer to the template used in the mid-80s for RPI (pictured here https://www.timesunion.com/sports/article/RPI-grad-Oates-makes-Hall-will-coach-Capitals-3664038.php)

I am a fan of having "RPI" in that English-serif font on the front of the jersey, and I liked the template the team used the last couple of seasons (I think there were small tweaks each year). I'm a bit of a traditionalist--I like teams to land on an base template, with few changes from year to year. Save the creativity for special events and fundraisers.

p.s. to WS--How did you get the photo to post? Did this board finally get that functionality on the desktop version?

The thing is that the BU jerseys look good because they don't mess up the sleeves. The sleeves are white with the red stripes, which is what I said would greatly improve what appears to be our new ones. I still don't really like the numbers on the front for BU but the rest of the jersey is good enough to make up for it
