RPI 2022-23: Return of the Schmidt and the Fans

I'm not a fan of Klee, he was easily the worst dman among our regulars last season

I thought that was a close race last year between Klee and Hallbauer as both seemed to regress defensively during the lost season. Now that they are the upper class core of a young defense I'm hoping that one or both will step up this year. In particular, if we got the sophomore year Hallbauer I'd be thrilled. If they don't step up and the first year defensemen do I could see one of these guys not dressing or being in the 19th skater slot frequently this year. With his shot, if Hallbauer is the swing guy, I could even see him getting an occasional shift up front.

Thanks. It took my aging brain a while to figure out that you probably mean Sunday's game will be on-line but not on WRPI.

My brain is still quite a bit younger but, if you ask my wife, some decidedly non-linear, non-chronological aging may be at work. Nonetheless, I took the statement that they were planning (past tense) to do Sunday's game as an indication that an audio only broadcast in any form was off the books.

I took the "were" to be the subjunctive mood, not the past tense, but I am not sure that was meant.

In honor of coaches Smith and Vines and their assistants, today is 1 October 2022. There are 0 days until RPI's next game.

This is based upon 1 October 2022 for the start of next season.

For the football fans - after a first half in which the RPI offense was about as exciting as watching paint dry (yet leading 7-3), the second half was an offensive outburst and with very little time remaining we lead 31-3 over Rochester. the defense was, as they have been outstanding all game. Bending a bit at times but never breaking and forcing 3 interceptions to ignite much of the scoring. It looks like the Liberty League should be a 4 team race again this year but Ithaca by far being the 500 pounder in the room. They are just torching Hobart today. Union will also contend and has a high scoring offense. But so far, it is our defense that keeps us competitive.

Did anyone watch the game? All I found was we lost 4-2 with Beaton and Strom scoring and Watson in goal.

I watched the game, and because it was an scrimmage, I will not judge anything.
The boys played up tempo with some good hitting.
They will need a few more games to figure out the line combinations. Not much chemistry yesterday.
I think that coach Smith got we he needed to see and will make the necessary adjustments.
I'll be watching again today to look for any improvements.

Thanks.

Was the video feed reliable?

Agree, but thought we were OK all things considered. First period was pretty good and RPI created some good chances in 5-on-5 play. Second period not great and felt we got outskated. Did well to tie the game in the third, then immediately get a penalty and 'gate scored the winner. Penalty kill needs some tuning. Couple Colgate goals were on bad bounces or deflections, but a couple were defensive breakdowns. Both RPI goals were on the power play and came from deflected or screened shots from the point.

Today's game may not add much. Toronto is 0-6 in their exhibition games and lost to QU yesterday 4-2. They were considerably out shot by Q. Last year they were a .500 team.
