RPI 2021-22: Picking Up Where We Left Off

I was up early and tried, but the good doctor beat me to it.
I think we will be ok.

EHF- Terribly sorry - I was up very early (our cat is the furry alarm clock) and out of here quickly before reading the thread with RB's post. Did not know we were waiting to start. Hope i do not jinx us. My fingers are crossed for the season and I fully expect 21 wins, 13 in the ECAC and a run for 4th place. I wonder how others feel about these numbers.
Because of the very long layoff from hockey I have no idea about most of the teams we play. I expect QU to be the class of the league followed closely by CCT. Other than that I truly do not have a clue. Our record may simply be a function of how long it takes this team to gel. I think there is enough talent and desire and it will just be figuring out how to win by committee.

I had actually thought of starting the thread myself before you did, but then it dawned on me that we had won our last game in 2020. So I looked up who started that thread and saw it was EHF. This was the first time, of course, since we have been doing this that we ended the season with a win.

Okay, so I do intend to get Pick to Click, the ECAC standings prediction contest, and my weekly KRACH prediction threads going this year, but obviously it's a little late to do anything about PtC for this weekend, and I apologize for that.

If you want, pick one guy each for RPI and BGSU and if they do anything that would normally earn points, you'll start with one bonus point when I actually get the game going (I don't want to do full scoring because most people probably won't see this before puck drop). I'll let late submissions slide too, but they'll only earn a bonus point based on the results of tomorrow's game.

You have been missed!!

Good to have you back. :-)
If I understand you want one player from each team, and these will be for both games.
I'll go with
1985 champs: Sellar
1984 champs: Swankler

For the football fans - at the half RPI 14 Buffalo State 3. But it is a much closer looking game than the score indicates. Buffalo has moved the ball fairly well and only a late score by RPI has this game that far apart. BTW Buffalo has about the biggest offensive line I have seen with 2 fellows at 6'7" and 6'8" and each at about 400 pounds (one is a freshman!!!)

RPI football remains undefeated with a win today 24-16. Not in doubt at all after the half and only this close as Buffalo scored a final TD with no time left. RPI spent most of the fourth just running out the clock. Now we are 6-0 heading into the most difficult part of the schedule and will have our hands full trying to win another game against Hobart, Union, Ithaca and St Lawrence.

This team is going to be outstanding when they fully gel and get rid of the sloppy play. Hopefully that happens sooner rather than later. Also I miss Babichuk

There is considerable work to be done but you can that this team has a lot of talent and desire. They are in a process of getting enough ice time together and getting to know where each other will be during play. i agree totally. They will be just fine. BG is a good team and perhaps a very good team. We had some sloppy and lazy play at times but we stayed pretty close at all times. Goal tending may turn out to be the key. If Linden can make the big stops more often (he has shown conclusively that he can make them much of the time already), then most games will be low scoring close affairs.

P.S.- I despise this 3 on 3 crap. it is just a disguised form of a shootout. Just utilizing 3 men instead of one. Why must the powers that be screw with the way the best sport on earth is played? How about if a football game is tied they simply have players attempt field goals from increasing distances to determine a winner? make everything like the penalty kicks in soccer which the American public loves so much. Hockey es a great team sport and should be left as a 5 on 5 (unless you take penalty in OT) contest for as long as it takes. This is why the Stanley Cup is so exciting and also why it is the most difficult Sports Trophy to win. (Rant over).
