He signed with Sudbury in the OHL recently.

Unless the CHL educational program has improved tremendously I just shake my head in wonder at decisions like this. Sudbury used a high pick to take him so they were obviously hopeful about signing him, but he proceeded as if he cared about education. Being ranked #222 among North American skaters makes him somewhere above 350 overwall in a draft of just over 200. He could develop into a solid NHL player, but, based on his current standing, it's more likely that he'll do his time in major junior, go undrafted and sign a free agent contract in the ECHL. Most guys put in the 3-5 years there, perhaps toss in an international year or two and then find themselves in their late 20s with no job and no degree. At least with the college route they can play a few years to assess the likelihood of a strong professional career before deciding whether to complete a degree. I hope our decision not to play this season didn't push him into making this decision. Then again, Sudbury didn't play either.
