Re: RPI 2019 Off-Season: Where Did Everyone Go?

This is the happiest I've ever been and I want RPI to do the thing so I can feel this way again.

Re: RPI 2019 Off-Season: Where Did Everyone Go?

The schedule should be coming out any day now. Two years ago it was released on June 15th, and last year it was released on June 11th. In each of the last 2 years, the incoming freshman class has been announced on June 27th, so we should know that in about 2 weeks.

Recruit announcements:
06/27/18
06/26/17
07/14/16
05/19/15
06/12/14
07/15/13

05/06/09
06/17/08
04/25/07
05/15/06
06/13/05
11/17/04 a bit late :)
2003 missing

This is quite comprehensive. I may be wrong, but I believe the head coach decides when to announce the schedule and recruiting class. So I think the last 2 years are more relevant since that's all we have to go off of for Smith. Although, the rest of the years were from mostly Appert and it doesn't look very consistent, so who even knows I guess. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later

I have been adding to this every year since about 2010. I didn't compile that now. The last two are indeed much more relevant..

This year, for the first time in my memory, we put out a press release announcing who signed LOIs. I don’t know if that will impact the timing of the final recruiting announcement as we have added at least 3 players since then that will presumably replace some of the earlier announced candidates.

Hmmm....Would bringing in another Canisius/Atlantic Hockey guy be a good thing or a bad thing?

At first thought, I don't like it, but the basic question is if he can coach well and recruit well. He was the Captain of Canisius, so that is a plus.

With the other assistant being exclusively a pro coach (and non-varsity college player) prior to this season and the HC being a former college forward and long-time Canisius coach, I'd prefer to see some more diversity of experience and contacts. Canisius doesn't get many kids from the USHL. That was one of the things Jewell brought to the table. Then again, it seems everyone just wants to recruit U16s these days so maybe that need isn't as great as it was a few years ago.

Our problem is keeping the 16U's we get commitments from. :)

how Old is the article compared to the picture?

Edit: article’s dated 6/12/2019, but no date on the pic. The writer took the pic herself, so I wonder when the last time was that she was on campus.

The question is whether he was the only applicant...😝

"After an extensive national search, RPI is pleased to announce...". Ha ha

BTW, the halfway point of the offseason is at 8:36 PM on 6/22/19 based on a 7 PM start on 10/5/19. That includes a 30 minute adjustment since it was not DST when the season ended at 9:12 PM on 3/9/19.
