Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season: The Hunt for Red October

Appert didn't coach the U17 team this season and wasn't behind the bench for this playoff run. He was in Europe with the U18 team and currently is there as an AC on the Men's National team, so I'm not sure what your point is about this article.

Some people seem to have a vested interest in vindicating a person who hasn't been associated with the program in over a year.

Some people seem to have a vested interest in continuing to hate on a person who hasn't been associated with the program in over a year.

You can guess which one he is.

Just providing Aspy with the latest data that Seth is a fantastic coach! I hope he gets the Denver job! :D

I quoted this on the BU recruit thread and Rogie confirmed that ET is going to BU. he decided to go there because Melanson had a positive experience.

Was ET the one who lost out here or someone else?

Either way, it's not really going to matter much in terms of RPI, since he's out the door with a sheepskin in a couple weeks (or possibly the summer, depending on where he is with his studies).

You are probably right since he likely broke ties with the RPI hockey program, but if there is a scholarship available he could stay. Perhaps that is connected with Jonathan Bendorf being drafted today by the Chicago Steel (USHL) when we expect him to arrive this fall. I certainly have no information but, I thought it was worth reporting.

One of the benefits of being my age is that I often cannot remember what happened a year ago. In fact, I sometimes cannot recall what i had for breakfast the same day. We are facing a new season with a relatively new coach and that is all I am focused on for the program right now (but I probably will even forget that by tomorrow)

Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season: The Hunt for Red October

Question is why did he leave RPI.

Let's see .... he left with 2 yrs of eligibility so what do you think his reasoning for leaving was?
1. Didn't like the food at RPI
2. Wanted to be one of Shirley's Bodyguards but was denied the job
3. Didn't like the style of play in the ECAC
4. Didn't like the coach
5. Wanted a graduate degree from somewhere other than RPI
6 More than one of the above
7. All of the above

Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season: The Hunt for Red October

If the point is who is behind the bench, perhaps I should ask this: Where were all the strong feelings about Harvard-player-who-must-not-be-named?

The situation has changed a lot in the more than ten years since HPWMNBN left. At that time such things were pretty rare. Now they are much more commonplace. I would like to see it stopped, but don't hold out much hope.

Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season: The Hunt for Red October

I should also mention that although I am far from being a Clarkson fan, it is nice to see that the Clarkson women are apparently the recipient of two such transfers this summer, one from OSU and one from QU. So the thing is that one needs to have an excellent team, which we sadly are not. :(

One schedule note is that UAH will be joining UVM and us in the Catamount Cup. Whether we get to play them is yet to be known; that tournament is typically set opponents.

The guys at NU Hockey Blog said that Northeastern's in as well, per their Friends of Hockey meeting. It's usually setup so the HE teams don't play each other, so RPI and UAH will both play UVM and NU.
