I think that you are correct about the red line. Is that a new rule?

BTW, I am more concerned about our blue line being solid. :D

I don't recall seeing anything along those lines for the new rules. The current rule (1.4, final paragaph) states:

There shall be a line 12 inches in width and red in color, drawn completely across the rink in center ice, parallel with the goal lines and continuing vertically up the side of the boards, known as the “center line.’’ This line shall contain at regular intervals markings of a uniform distinctive design that shall easily distinguish it from the two blue lines; the outer edges must be continuous and be visible on the ice through any logos or other markings.

Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season Part II: In Memory of WaP

I am pretty sure that we have violated that for quite some time and so have others.

Off-hand I'm pretty sure I've seen Harvard and Brown violate that rule at various points in time by not having the red line cross-over their logo. It's not a big deal. Icing at the red line is called so much more loosely than off-sides (if the follow-through was across the red line they usually allow it) and when they do make the call it is because an offensive player rushes to avoid getting pinched along the boards. Rarely do you see a player called for icing that is maneuvering through center ice.

Technically, isn't it now red lines?

Re: RPI 2018 Off-Season Part II: In Memory of WaP

I don't see it going through the logo, though.
Nor does it appear to be 12 inches in width. But I guess if the rule is going to be loosely enforced, why stop at the line remaining intact across the ice? Perhaps they could install a mechanism where a button could be pushed and the line could be raised a smidgen off the ice to impede the opposing players. After all this is an engineering school. Maybe they could make that happen only with the part of the line that isn't there.....

It's definitely 12 inches, at least from outside line to outside line. Same width as the blue lines. It's just a bit deceiving given the cameras.
