Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season (Part II): Mr. Smith Goes to Troy

It's been a long summer... and I came across some summer reading.

Sean Pickett (BU stathead poster said with admiration) put together a thread on comprehensive goalie stats going back, well, much further than you'd want to go. Looking at last year's data, Chase Perry had almost as many quality starts (17/18) as Sakellaropolous, with somewhat less ice time than his Union counterpart.

All things considered, Chase had a pretty good year. Adding Linden Marshall could make goaltending a real strength of our team this year. Just sayin'.

((Unfortunately, looks like Sean's goaltender thread is no longer available...))

Former RPI star Brad Tapper in the news.

Good to hear.

Since we have had some injury reports, do you know if everyone is skating?

The big concern seems to be centering around Burgess. From what I've been told he's skating and looks fine. Now with that said these are just fun skates right now so how his stamina is and where he is physically on two repaired knees is something no one will know until contact takes place. Hayhurst didn't arrive until yesterday and I do not have a report on him.

Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season (Part II): Mr. Smith Goes to Troy

Really appreciate the update. Question: When you say 2 repaired knees, does that mean there was a second injury? I was under the impression he was medically red-shirted from a single knee injury at pro camp last year...

When he was injured last year it was determined that the same deficiency existed in the other knee as well. So he had one surgery in the Fall of 16 and after he was healed he had a second operation on the other knee. I don't want to get into specifics but he is fully heeled from both operations.

Aren't you supposed to make it look mean?

Aren't you supposed to make it look mean?

You mean like this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dHPs_PzL_k (the first :15 says it all...)

But not like a certain cowboni thought to be native to the Potsdam area...

(Wish I could find a picture in it's natural habitat but a quick search of the 'net yields nothing.
I put out the challenge to find a picture of the Clarkson cowboni.)
