Re: RPI 2017 Off-Season (Part II): Mr. Smith Goes to Troy

I just listened belatedly to the press conference. SAJ mentioned that Coach Smith's father-in-law was a professional hockey player. Does anyone know who he is (or was)?

I don't see his wife's (Susan) maiden name anywhere, so I don't know.

Flaggie wrote "They stole Justin Smith's jersey and gave it to the coach! ".

As WaP tweeted JS never wore that type of jersey.

I'm busy today and will watch the press conference later... but if there's a Smith sweater to wear, why not Rick Smith's? Given the chance, I'd bring back the cherry and white large-print RPI sweater from the 60's-early 70's in a heartbeat.

Canisius has taken down his bio, so I can't find it there. Interestingly their Director of Player Development/Assistant Strength & Fitness Coach is named David Smith.

This Dave Smith is also the Fitness coach for the NHL referees. His brother Barry was an AC to Scotty Bowman in Pittsburgh and Detroit and is now with Chicago I believe as the Director of Player Development

So if he overworked Stewie, we're even more screwed on account of name recognition.

Philosophy professor, also a Director in the Social Sciences program... not sure.

That was what made me wonder. RPI managed to find a place for Coach Vines' wife, but this would be tougher. In any case, this wasn't a killer for Dave Smith to be interested.
