Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

I was just looking for news about Lonnie Clary. I didn't find any mention of him leaving RPI, but I did find this article http://www.pe.com/articles/sibling-808540-rivalry-excel.html about groups of athletic siblings from his region of California http://www.pe.com/articles/sibling-808540-rivalry-excel.html. This is the part about the Clarys:

8. The Clarys (Lindsey, Lonnie and Tyler)

Tyler Clary is one of the area’s most decorated swimmers. He won four section titles and a pair of Masters titles while swimming at Riverside Poly. Clary was a three-time NCAA champion at Michigan and was selected the 2009 College Swimmer of the Year. His crowning achievement came at the 2012 Olympics when he won gold in the 200-meter backstroke. Lindsey Clary is a standout swimmer at Ohio State and won the 400-meter individual medley title at the 2014 short course national championships. Lindsey finished eighth in the 400 IM at the recent U.S. Olympic trials, and she is considered a rising star in open water swimming. Lonnie Clary is a hockey player who currently plays for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

Was he in Troy this summer? Riverside, CA is a long way from Troy. I have no insight. Just sayin'.

why would any of them be in Troy in the summer? Till August anyway.

Off season training? "Captain's Practices"? Of course, if that much over-training has been what's behind our numerous injuries, perhaps it's better to have some time off...

Capt.’s practices are in August. I don’t see why any would stay in Troy for training. Yes, there are places to train. “Hockey Hut” in Clifton Park is one but they would also need living quarters, meals, transportation.....etc.

The 4 pm trading deadline has passed... no one's been traded... they should all return to Troy. :D Just sayin'. ;)

Fair enough. I seem to recall there was quite a bit of "extra effort" put forward after the 09-10 season. Just sayin'... ;)

College players don't train at the Hut!! It is more for players under the age of 13.

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

Anyone have a link to any Joe' Juneau clips from his days at RPI? I did a quick YouTube search and nothing came up (plenty from the Olympics and NHL though). :(

Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

RPI’s hockey team won a valuable lesson in an upset loss to North Dakota in the 1984 ECAC Tournament.

I realize that sentence was taken from the article you linked....I don't think North Dakota was playing in the ECAC tournament though, they probably meant the 1984 NCAA tournament.

and later in the article, they interviewed Adessa in 2015 about the 1985 tournament as part of the 25th anniversary of that championship.....
