Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

My understanding is that if he had come to RPI, LA would not lose him until after he graduates.

In the current situation, it is also possible that LA doesn't want him.
The only amateur goaltender currently under club control is Alec Dillon of WHL-Edmonton, who was selected by the club in the fifth round in 2014. But because Dillon underwent two hip surgeries and appeared in only seven games for the Oil Kings in 2015-16, the team is not expected to sign him to an entry-level contract. His future with the organization is in doubt..... http://lakingsinsider.com/2016/05/16/replenishing-goaltending-pipeline-among-off-season-focuses/

LA did not sign Dillon yesterday.......<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Updated look at the remaining players from the 2014 Draft whose team negotiation rights expired at 5:00pm yesterday. <a href="https://t.co/qKg0n7NAjG">pic.twitter.com/qKg0n7NAjG</a></p>— CapFriendly (@CapFriendly) <a href="https://twitter.com/CapFriendly/status/738372299049553920">June 2, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

I suspect that someone in the AHL or ECHL will sign him.

Am wondering about the circumstances which brought about two hip surgeries. Imagine if he had not signed with the WHL and matriculated at RPI... and these hip conditions were pre-existing conditions which manifested themselves after the fall semester began.

Imagine a November and December with neither Kasdorf nor Dillon (and, of course, no Hackett).

I don't want to imagine that... :(

When you hre 6'5" and 170 lb you don't have any natural padding over your hips :)

Looks like the rumors are true about Nanne transferring to UMINN ........ Oh, it’s Tyler :D So, no family get together when Ohio St. comes to Troy. With a life threatening illness suffered by Tyler last year causing him to miss all season it’s a wonder Louie was able to concentrate on his season....... http://kstp.com/sports/tyler-nanne-...ith-gophers-after-major-health-scare/4151587/

Turk, thanks for posting this. As a NY Ranger season ticket holder I find it rather distressing that the injury curse which is indigenous to the parent club has tentacles which extend to the lowest levels of the organization. Let's all hope for his sake that Tyler fully recovers and goes on to a successful college (except against Rensselaer) and hopefully professional hockey career.

You’re welcome. It should remind all of us that there’s so much going on in these kids lives that we don’t know about. Congrats to all NYR fans, myself included, on the news of Sam Rosen being inducted into the HHOF. No doubt on his plaque it will read, “...... AND IT’S A POWER PLAY GOAL”!
