Re: RPI 2016 Off Season thread: A Drivel-free Summer

The league is run by the schools. It is likely still grossly underfunded and understaffed, because the schools don't want to invest any more money and there is not enough time or staff to market and sell sponsorships and advertising.

I think that if UPenn elevated back to a D1 program obviously they would break off. I don't think they will until that is the case.
What makes anyone think that after 38 years without a hockey program that Penn will now suddenly field both a men's and women's program in a very expensive sport. This ain't tennis.

that is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for lazy or sloppy thinking, especially in this day and age. The adage nowadays is, "if you can't do the job well yourself, outsource." Obviously the current model is failing. So take on a new partner with better incentives to do the job right, less an employee/sinecure backwater and more a joint venture partner.

There is a nice business opportunity in the right hands, just find those hands and negotiate a respectful split of the profits.

In other words, put out a posting for job applications, solicit competitive bids from multiple parties, however you have it: spin off the current ECAC and then open up co-management rights to a bidding war from multiple management agencies, etc. The now-independent ECAC board can bid too, maybe they'll clean up their act.... maybe... Maybe even event promoter type firms. It is foolishness to settle for the bloated half-corpse that can't get out of its own way we have now, holding back the potential that's latent in the ECAC as currently constituted.

Engineers, hah! blinded by old habits and too lazy to upgrade to a newer technology.

Looking at the upcoming year's schedule, I see we're going to have (at least I assume it will be) another Beanpot reschedule. Although I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up around when Union has their finals, it would give us the ability to have some time off in both January and February (even if only a day). We seem to play better when we get that rest, as I recall a very unique pattern of time off in 12-13, leading to a 20-win season.

I just love hearing from people who don't know any better.

As one of those who don't know any better, could you please elaborate?
If we are just looking for a hockey arena, there are many in NY state and Connecticut that could be used.
But I an guessing that it has to be more than just a hockey arena. And it certainly doesn't have to be centrally located. (see Atlantic City).
So tell us, what is the ECAC looking for. I don't think they know.

Really???? Profits???? Holding back potential???? Maybe you should bring your ideas (?) to Gary Bettman.

They went to Atlantic City because the Chamber of Commerce practically gave it away. If that doesn't tell you what the EC$$ is looking for, nothing will.

Money and visibility; but mostly money.
