RPI 2013-2014 Season

Re: RPI 2013-2014 Season

Certainly not indicative of the teams they will face. Ottawa was pretty bad but give the Engineers credit.....they didn't play down to the competition.

Obviously they'll face tougher competition. I was just saying that they dominated today.

They faced the Ottawa Midget AA team. That is the second tier Ottawa Sens team, not the one that plays in the PWHL.

I know it was an exhibition against a probably terrible Canadian college team, but **** if it isn't hard not to get excited about a 9-0 win. If last week's biggest problem was trouble finishing, I think we figured it out.

Of course it was the PWHL team! Had Ottawa sent a Midget AA team I think they would have found the welcome mat for future games against NCAA teams permanently rolled up.

Re: RPI 2013-2014 Season

In case anyone is in Boston, St. Paul's School (recruit Shayna Tomlinson) will be playing an outdoor game on 1/8/14 as part of Frozen Fenway http://www.sps.edu/podium/default.aspx?t=204&nid=697588.

Won't be a great opportunity to assess her - Govenor's was good (not great) last season, but will be much weaker this season. You'd do much better at an Assabet U19 game in Concord, MA against another decent U19 team (pretty comparable to a low D1 game) if you want to watch Ms. Tomlinson - try the Assasbet U16/U19 tournament. In any case, she is a strong player and will do well at RPI.

Engineers leading RMU 1-0 after one period in Pittsburgh. Watching it on America One video feed, which is not very good. First period looked like a first period of a first game of the season: neither team able to click on many passing plays, but good close checking.

Engineers win, 3-0! I was only following the live stats, so nothing to say about the quality of the game, but a shutout win is certainly a good way to start the season!

I saw about half of the game. Not a lot of thrilling offensive plays, but a good disciplined game by the Engineers and O'Brien looked even better than she was last year!
