Re: RPI 2013/14 Part II: The HFH is Covered with Frozen Drivel

The Engineers failure to hold a 3rd period lead is a lack of confidence. If you think you will have a problem holding a lead you will. Or maybe it's the fact that they are trying to "hold" and lost the aggression that got them the lead.
Regardless this is not just an on ice problem. It is a bench and locker room problem. It is is a lack of leadership from upperclassmen and coaches. It's time for the upperclassmen to go out and finish a "big" game.
I know they can turn these 3rd period blues around and I believe they will. It would have been good to finish off QPac but still not a bad game.

Considering these blues also happen in the second, I'd say it's a coaching problem. Can the guy recruit? Yes. Can he make adjustments during a game? No. That is what kills us. Good teams know that against SA, all you have to do is "survive" the first period and then come out blazing.

Clearly, since it's been a problem for seven straight years. Amirite?

Despite the obvious jeer in your sentence, it is. Look at how many times we have just flat out blown it at the end. Icebreaker 2007, Notre Dame 2007, Colorado College 2008, BU 2008, Army several times, UA_ 2009, North Dakota 2011, BC 2013, the list just goes on and on.

Bingo!

Cherry picking is fun.

I have a problem putting all the blame on a coach. The upperclassmen have to put on their big boy skates and play hockey. Hard nosed and disciplined, 3 whole periods. Appert can't go out there and play for them.

there you go, being reasonable again.

we all know that, unless we go undefeated for the season while not allowing any goals to be scored against us while being 100% on the power play, there is always something worth complaining about!

See, even in the prior sentence, I didn't specify that we score at least one goal in every period. Now I'm complaining about my own post!

Sure they do, but if this has been happening since SA has been bringing in recruits, which it has, something is evidently wrong with the staff, as they are a common denominator.

Another common denominator is that you have been a fan -- is that also part of the cause of the problems? :D

I wouldn't specifically say these problems, but certainly some problems. :D

I was a fan for two years Fridgen was the coach, and I do not recall these issues.

Selective memory.
