Having been to both I strongly suggest you book a flight to Berlin. The hamburgers are even better there. Try the Hard Rock if you grow weary of donor kebabs.

It's probably also a lot easier to get to the Potsdam near Berlin from here in DC. :)

I did miss an opportunity to be in Berlin last January when I was invited to a ceremony. (Only the banquet would have been free, not the trip.)

Wow, looks like Ed has been reading my comments concerning the RPI offense - and he didn't even give me credit in his article. :(

But I guess some on this forum would opine that Ed doesn't understand hockey.

It doesn't take much brain power to understand the offense sucks. It takes guts to say it on here and deal with the manifesto clingers. How many times did we miss the net over the weekend? I understand in some cases you're looking for a deflection, but some of those cases weren't even close.

I think everyone on here understands that minus Haggerty, Higgs, and Laliberte, the offense isn't producing as much as we want. What we get sick of are your ridiculousness whining and complaining about Appert and crew. I'm sure he's well aware of what the offense is doing, and, get this, I bet you he's even more tuned in than you are! So if I'm a manifesto clinger, so be it. I haven't been afraid to state my opinion on what's wrong with the team either on here or on the air, but you don't see me whining and complaining about either. You should stop, you'll feel alot better.

To some, that would be considered whining and complaining. Are certain players in an obvious sophomore slump? Yes. Are we essentially a one line team right now? Yes. Where are these things supposed to be fixed? Practice. Who runs practices? For the writer of the manifesto, that's a rhetorical question, because everyone knows the answer.

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part II: The HFH is Covered with Frozen Drivel

I'm having an amazing sense of deja vu all over again.....

I grew up in the midwest, and also lived in Wyoming for several years. They both are what one might describe as a "civil" society.

Then we moved east, and I started to commute to Manhattan for work.

One of my very first days there, as I am leaving Grand Central Terminal, I notice two cab drivers arguing with each other.

"you're an adzhole"
-- no, you're an adzshole
"oh, yeah, you're the real adzhole"
-- no, it's you who's the adzhole

and after a few more exchanges of similar lines of enlightened dialog, they actually started swinging at each other.

How did those two cab drivers come to hijack this thread?

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part II: The HFH is Covered with Frozen Drivel

There's an old saying that goes something like,

"Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.

and those who can neither do nor teach, complain about the failings of others.*

So to that person who has neither played nor coached hockey, please spare us for a few days. We'll survive somehow....;)

(* actually, in the original, it was "those who can neither do nor teach, become theater critics"....)

Re: RPI 2013/14 Part II: The HFH is Covered with Frozen Drivel

I'm about ready to just leave the board for the same reason I left RPISPORT-L many, many moons ago - because it turned into a complete cesspool of people who knew basically nothing about anything opining at length, poorly, and dominating the conversation. Nothing was ever discussed rationally, and it just served to **** me off every time I saw a new message (and, after peeking at the place a couple of years ago, I saw nothing had changed). I see the same thing happening here.

Hopefully it can still be redeemed, which is why I'm hanging in there. But it's becoming a lot harder. No one is able to have an actual discussion about real things anymore because the conversation is dominated by the bellyachers, the blamers, the moaners, the halfwits. These clowns have all the answers.

It's becoming clear that my efforts at pushing back against the idiocy are failing just as my efforts at ignoring the idiocy in the hopes it would just go away failed. I don't get to enjoy pleasant conversation with rational people anymore, and that disappoints me greatly. I really used to enjoy this place, back in the day - back when it was just discussion, good or bad. There were calm, reasoned critiques - the type of critiques I'd probably be making now instead of being defensive if it wasn't for the over-reacting crybabies.

No, the conversation is dominated by useless drama.

Remember when Hopeless Dad came by to annoy us regularly? and we all collectively made a concerted effort never to reply to anything he posted? and how he then stopped coming by since he failed to get a response?

It worked so well we stopped doing it, eh?

yeah, back in the day when we had a decent coach......I wonder what happened to that guy anyway? Took us to the NCAAs in 2011, second in the ECAC regular season standings last year....too bad he's not around any more.

He's probably out of town recruiting.:)
