Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

That is exactly my point.
As for the current location, I like to sit high in section 9 when I go to games, and there is way to much interference between my seats and the band to hear it properly.
There has been some very entertaining interactions with other bands. Colgate for one had a very positive and entertaining battle recently.
I really enjoyed it. And so did the Colgate band.

It helps when you get along with them.

Re: RPI 2011 - 12 Part IV: We ain't Bailen on this season yet, Go Red!!

I believe the point is that the band does much more than just play music. Such activities include (but are not limited to) heckling the other team during warmups (which they do anyway), heckling during the game, and the visual entertainment as noted by EHF. However, to your credit, the primary purpose of the band is to play music, and for that, the current location of the band is much better.

If they do build a warm-up area and cafeteria/bar there, I would love to see them put in a reinforced ceiling and have the band play on top of that. They're once again at the east end, but they're above the glass, so you get a good compromise for all wishes. Given how much the band stretches out, I'm not sure how you'd fit skyboxes in (unless sections 11 and 12 are somehow modified).

And if they are above the glass, the players can shoot for the tubas again. ;)

Traditionalist that I am, I'm sorry to hear that the stage will never be restored, so the band will never play there again.

Getting away from hockey for a moment - I knew that, since the completion of the ECAV, Commencement has been held at the football stadium. I assumed that, in the event of severely inclement weather, they would move it into the Field House. But if there's no stage in the Field House, it doesn't seem like that would work.

Do they have an alternate site for Commencement any more, or do they just stay out there on the football field, no matter how awful the weather might be?

It's not that they don't have a stage, it's that they don't have a permanent stage.

Bring back the shots on goal board

It's broken. Only works if you turn the big board off (which obviously isn't an option). They're waiting on a part to ship, which admittedly has taken a while, but the problem should be fixed somewhat soon.

Is the part a lug nut? ;)

I'm surprised how little discussion there is of tonight's AIC game. Granted, AIC is never much of a threat... but no one can be overlooked! Especially an AIC team that managed to actually give Union a run for its money and beat Brown 3-0.

Plus, being the (likely) engineers and scientists that we are, we do love our details and over-analyzing every team ;)

We do have a separate thread. Granted, it has also gotten off topic.

Agree! But it goes to show you that CHANGE is a GOOD Thing! You cant keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. Kudos to the team! And kudos to SA for shaking things up with the lines!!

Let's see... we scored 2 against Lowell, 2 against Army, 3 against Dartmouth and thanks to your shaken up lines.... 2 against AIC (not including the empty netter), the weakest team of the bunch. And your point is????

My only conclusion from the data is that AIC is a weaker opponent so we were able to keep them to one goal and win. If we scored 5 goals then I might agree with your premise. Since AIC is a weaker opponent and we only scored 2, I might conclude that the shake-up did us no good.

We could very easily have had 5 goals at the end of the first period. Although there were some easy saves in there, the AIC goalie wasn't letting any rebounds go and was playing tough. After that period, I was worried we'd see a 1-0 AIC game at about 58:00. After that, in the later periods you could tell the team was trying too hard to set up "the perfect shot". Also, in the second period, it didn't seem like we were dominating play (perhaps the penalties were a façade of that thought, and even though the shot total shows very favorably to RPI, I think there were a very big number of net misses), meaning our adaptation game still leaves something to be desired.

Nothing changed. We still only scored 2 goals against one of the worst teams in D1. The goals were from the point, Leonard and Lee banged in a rebound. The passing is still atrocious. Could have had some one-timers but the passes were not in the wheelhouse. Either behind or too far infront of the reciever. On a PP, JL missed a guy by 3 feet with a pass and there was nobody near him. Sorry, but beating AIC by a goal does nothing to instill confidence that they have turned anything around. If, over the next 3 games they score more than 2 goals against tough competition then we can talk about the great coaching move.

You mean your favorite!!!;)

The only other coach I ever saw with RPI is Fridgen. Some of his behind-the-bench antics were, well, entertaining... ...but he is not my favorite. I've only seen one coach lead a team to a winning season (2 seasons, actually).

Interesting. Some of us can find positives to take out of losses and negatives to take out of victories.

Others can't see past the W or the L.
