Re: RPI 2010 Off-Season Thread IV -- It's Looking Like No "I-V" Is Necessary!
I think that's probably why I wasn't able to watch the game very well on my single-core comp with lousy video card, but was able to do so on quad-core with slightly better video card. Either way, I do also remember that the visiting team fans were also impressed by your work. Hopefully, year after next, we're done with B2, and we can go back to internal live pictures.
I do enjoy watching the game archives, and I wouldn't be surprised if the coaching staff also uses it to help decide what needs to be practiced during the week, if we could consider that to be any potential reason to continue recording, even if it's one camera from the press box.

Yep; games will still be up on the website by the next morning. If that's taken away, then there's almost no reason for us to be behind the cameras at all. Most of us would be cheering for the team in the stands instead.
Bitrates for the streams were generally 800 kbps ish, but we throttled that down to about 500 kbps during the Brown series as viewers increased to ensure we had enough upload bandwidth. B2 stream is about 400 kbps, but using a vastly inferior codec. Even our 200 kbps "low quality" archived streams generally look better than the 400 kbps B2 live stream since we use h264 and B2 probably uses VP6 or something similar. Trouble with h264 is it takes a lot more CPU power to play back, which can present itself as choppiness.
