Fascinating. As Leo Bloom said to Max Bialystock in the producers-I was not suggesting any plan-I was merely offering a little mental exercise in accounting. (or something to that effect) It is amazing how sometimes a failure can produce a hit.:eek:

I am amazed by the dedication and brilliance of guys like Rham, B12 and Tom. This why this board is the best board because of the pride that everyone puts into it. You always hear stats where USA is lagging in math and science scores but that is hard for me to believe. Gentlemen, great work. If we make it in will be playing with house's money. Never know how single elimination hockey tourney's will end. Let's Go Red!!!!

In honor of Gordie Clark being named to the ECAC 50th Anniversary Team,
and in recognition of the beginnings of UNH's Playoff Quest many years ago,
I have posted a video of Gordie Clark, Jamie Hislop and Cliff Cox scoring 3 goals in 1 minute and 45 seconds in the 1974 ECAC Quarterfinals against RPI:

Let's put it this way... Assuming that the other three series go 3 games each, with Dartmouth, Yale, and St. Lawrence advancing with us getting swept by Cornell: We'd be sitting in T-19th place with UAA with 10 comparison wins.

Was it the 7-6 OT game? I did not attend because that was in Durham.

Yes it was. Going into the game, UNH was ranked #1 in the nation for the first time in the school's history. Our excuse for the loss was that goalie Cap Raeder (later played for the Hartford Whalers in the old WHA) had a severe leg injury, was ineffective, and had to leave the game later in the second period. In reality, RPI played terrific in a very hostile environment. Hope you enjoy the scenes from the old Snively Arena.

I'm having a lot of trouble managing my database, which has ballooned to almost 4 GB of data, but here's a dump from yesterday evening consisting of outcomes that combined are 70% likely:

Rankings where we're in -- totaling 82.3%
13 - 18.779655123359%

Rankings where we're out -- totaling 17.7%

I'm looking _forward_ to recalculating after Thursday's games, I'll be able to have better numbers a LOT faster thanks to the smaller number of permutations.

Great post-thanks-Nice to see the old 1974 RPI team even if I had to sit through 3 goals against. Love the goalie mask we wore in those days.

4 GBs. You must be keeping a lot of information for each scenario.

In my 48 years of RPI hockey that seems to be our forte. We can compete with and often beat the best teams in the country and the following weekend lose to teams that we should be able to walk all over. Kepler's third rule-never bet for or against RPI!!!

In that case, we were seeded 8th, and Harvard and Cornell who we lost to in Boston were both seeded in the top 4.

Wow, that brings back some memories. That was just before I went to the 'Tute; but there were names I member fondly: Barry Martinelli, and Dino Serra. I swear that I wore a helmet like UNH in high school.

Didn't Donn Cutts used to have a mask painted like The Joker from Steve Miller? He wasn't wearing it here.
