Has anyone found the post game interview from last night? The Troy Record has a video up that claims to be it, but is instead a discussion of a new basketball arena somewhere...
So they saw DC beat Union and the 'Tute beating DC. They should be able to figure out which is the better team in the Capital District.![]()
it was quite funny to see Mello looking up to the "welcome" at the start of the 2nd. Perhaps visiting goalies feel, "at least in the 2nd period I don't have to listen to the fans". Would love to have that reception continue (I sit right behind you)....."skate,skate,,,,turnnnnnnnn. And of course, the Blackhole chant.
Goaltender it's definitely true. Skaters I think it's hit or miss; sometimes they screw up, and sometimes they score the GWG in OT (Bear Trapp in 2005).
Still using small sample sizes?
Has a # 1 team in the country ever been the game for the freakout before anyone know??
1985, perhaps?![]()
Ddi anyone notice what type of protection Brock Higgs was using for his throat over the weekend?
I was not able to tell under the helmet, nor was I able to see during the anthems. Perhaps it is one of those that is built into the shirt.
Off topic: RPI's football coach, Joe King, has stepped down. http://www.rpiathletics.com/news/2011/1/24/FB_0124110145.aspx

Back up to #10 in the USCHO poll.
More importantly, we have 10 ECAC games left before playoffs. Winning 7 or more would be a nice way to sew up a 1st round bye while also putting us in good shape for a tournament bid. Game against Brown on Friday is the real test of this weekend. It's a must win on a night that we haven't played our best this season with lots of incentive to be looking past Brown and toward Yale (and Freakout). A win against Yale would be a great bonus, but not a must have. The way we get to a bye and the NCAA is by beating the teams we should beat. Brown, Cornell, Colgate, SLU and .500 or better in the other 6.
I noticed a little extra black piece of fabric poking out from under his shirt. My assumption is that this was his throat guard.Did anyone notice what type of protection Brock Higgs was using for his throat over the weekend?

I got bored today and wandered through the RPI hockey media guide and saw that in Powers' 5 seasons as head coach, he finished in the top 4 every year but 91-92. Does anyone remember a reason or at least have some kind of explanation for the relatively terrible season in the midst of 5 really good ones? Also, I was wondering about the change from the relatively loose association that was the ECAC pre-1979 to the three-division split in the 79-80 season and then the 12-team association in the 84-85 season (which corresponded with the HEA split). I figured this thread was a decent spot to ask about RPI / ECAC history.
