Does anyone recall the last time we got the benefit of a blatant wrong call by a Ref. I remember an obvious offsides on a faceoff vs. Providence in 1985. Has there been anything more recent?

Our first goal against Niagara this season. Puck didn't cross the line. They went to the replay and still got it wrong.Does anyone recall the last time we got the benefit of a blatant wrong call by a Ref. EHF: Over my 47 years of RPI hockey there have been a lot of bad calls, missed calls, no calls, etc. I must say that this year is starting out with what certainly seems like a plethora of them. I have gotten upset, angry and frustrated so many times before. This is no different. The boys worked hard to forge a tie-and should have been rewarded at least with a fair call at the end. Coach must be seething-and it appears he has every right to be upset. Let's hope the team can put this hose job behind them and quickly get ready for the game tonight. Sure I am an RPI fan-but trying to be objective about all of this-the calls over the years have not in my mind evened out. We do seem to have gotten more than our share of bad decisions over the years. I can opnly hope that this trend ends. All I ask is that we get a fair shake. Go Red! the season is young-we have lots of time to make this a great year. (I posted this on the old thread but moved it here.)

Of course, that is aproblem, I tend to forget when refs make calls in our favor. Then again, that call was early in the game.

With all due respect to all the posters I think this new thread name gives the refs more power than they deserve. I don't know if our players read this but if they do I would hate for them to think every time they go into a game they have no chance. I propose we put this behind us and let's just have faith in our team that with 8 secs to go tied the game and possibly would have moved on with a win. Even with the bad calls last night they believed in themselves all the way until the final whistle and I believe they will do the same thing tonight. To do that you have to overcome those working against you-I think they have-now we should too.

For the football fans-RPI was ahead of Merchant Marine 26-7 almost into the 4th period. And still ahead 26-14 late in the fourth quarter. Only to give up 2 late touchdowns including bobbling an onside kick off. They fell behind 27-26 and got the ball back with over 1 minute left. RPI had missed a field goal and an extra point earlier in the game. RPI drove the ball down the field into MM territory. RPI was down to their second string quarterback for this final drive. They drove to the 12 yard line and ran the clock down to 6 seconds left. They tried a 29 yard field goal for the win and the kick was good for the win. RPI wins 29-27!!!!!! Perhaps a good omen for tonight!!!

Great comeback for a win tonight. We did benefit from a major penalty call late in the 3rd-and then a second penalty call in OT. Usually it is us who takes those penalties. These two teams played 3 games which all deserved to go into OT. They split the season series 1-1-1 and each team had 8 goals. They seem to be about as evenly matched as possible. Now let's rest up for the holiday tournament and finally win it for a change. This season seems to be one nail biter after another. Thankfully I have a good supply of vodka here.

I agree. Great win and a much needed confidence booster. Was ready to write them off in the second period when Union went up 2-zip and nothing seemed to be going Red's way. York kept them in it. Also thought the waved-off goal in the first period did not bode well. The 5-min. major was a legit call. As for the game tying goal at 19:59:02, I think those refs knew what would have happened had they waved it off...

Congratulations to RPI on a well deserved and gutsy win. I haven't seen the boxscore but Union took an inordinate number of penalties (I trust the refs were OK with you folks tonight
) and they paid the price. Kinkaid kept Union in the game but eventually succumbed and aside from the second half of the second period or so, I think RPI had the better of the play. I for one am happy these two teams don't have to face each other again, at least in the regular season and if we do have to meet up again let it be in AC.

I spoke with Mr. Kennedy (Sr.) on the way out of HFH and he told me the specialist/surgeon just finished looking at John's hand and it looks like surgery will not be required They're looking at a 4-5 week recovery period, barring any set-backs. Looking to be back for the USNDT game.

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Marty O'Grady, although not so highly rated league wise, is our most clutch player that is just in the right place at the right time to get a key goal. I am SO happy BP suggested him.

Try sitting in my section at the field house....every time an RPI player drops it should be called it seems. Or a person gets a woodie for yelling something and sticks with it all night. I have people around me ask if this happens often and I have to just shake my head and go yeah.
