I think that Pirri is getting a lot of penalties because he feels that he must react because he feels he must react because he has heard so much about his lack of strength.

We're not even into the ECAC Regular season yet, and ALREADY a part II, what has my presence done?!

In any case, I like the title.

Pirri was Chicago's second selection and 59th overall out of the Junior A level OJHL. He now skates at RPI, where he is off to an impressive start with three goals and three assists in the club's first six games. At 6'0 160 lbs the 18-year-old Pirri will definitely need to add some bulk. His skill though is still readily apparent with his quick skating and brilliant puckhandling. He is likely years away, but his production and potential put Pirri at the top of Chicago's second tier of younger center prospects.

RPI gives up the Shoes and puts themselves out of reach of any postseason opportunities as they take their third Liberty League loss to Union, 20-15. Penalties were a killer as RPI took something like 85 yards worth, many of them on big 3rd and 4th down plays. Despite a strong stretch in the third and fourth, RPI only managed one TD and had no answer for Union's Chris Coney, who rushed for all 3 of Union's TDs.

When I started this thread, I probably should have called it a preseason thread.

It has become clear to both governing bodies that the Europeans are doing a better job teaching their kids and as a result Canada and the US are moving toward more skill emphasis and away from hitting teams into submission.

Finding the right balance for when to call penalties is going to be an ongoing challenge. I would prefer less to more too. However, I don't think USA hockey's emphasis on skill is ruining the games at all. Look at the NHL now compared to 5 years ago. It is much better to watch and it's the emphasis on speed and skill that did it. Now if only they can find a way to force Jacques Lemaire into early retirement the fun can continue.

I'm not familiar with the philosophy of hockey Canada and I'm sure they want a skill and speed game also....a great concept, but you just have to watch a Major Junior game (the option other than college for high end players) to see it is a whole different style of game. You better be prepared to be held a little,obstructed a little,interfered with a little,and you better be willing to return the favor or you won't make it.I'm not advocating dirty unruly play what I'm saying is the interpretation of these rules are vastly different and these leagues especially the ECACHL whom officiate these games like they are CYO basketball game are not doing these Kids any favors.Most of the bad officiating I've seen over the last couple of years IMO stem from bad interpretation of the rules by not keeping infractions to a reasonable level but instead trying to eleminate them which is not possible.I also now some of the dirtiest roughest players in the pros are European.It is not my opinion that the Europeans are not ahead of North Americans, it's they make up a small percentage of the players in the pro's and we just see the cream of the crop.The best player in pro Hockey is hands down Ovechkin we all know how he plays the game how many penalties do you think he would fare with any of the Murphy's penalty speaking !!!!!!!!!!!

Penalites did indeed kill us-Union kept drives alive on our penalties. We still had our chance though with a little over a minute to go we got to the Union 14 and was stuffed on a 4th and 1. The future looks bright however as RPI has a good nucleus centered around a big talented freshman quarterback. This year we just did not have enough offensive weapons to compete for the league title. We will make amends tonight however as i suspect we will have just too much for a game Army squad-Let's Go Red!

The reason to leave it as "I Believe in Seth Appert" is that is the wording that has been used before, not "We", and saying "I" does mean that each individual person believes in him.

Either is fine-I just believe we are ready to start a new thread this quickly. It shows how much interest there is in RPI hockey-and how ready we are for a winning team!
