Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

I have nothing to base this on, but I say he's there.

For a lot of those guys, it'll be their first time back in a while if they show up for it and I'm thinking that most of the team will be there.

Wasn't he supposed to be back for the 20-year reunion, but he and someone else (Tiano, perhaps) couldn't make it because of a snow storm?

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Since our ECAC referees played such a big role last season, especially post season (Cornell), would anyone be interested in keeping tabs on them? I would love to see if RPI gets called for more penalties than other teams, and how certain referees (especially Kotyra/Dell/Murphy) call RPI games compared to other teams. I know I can’t be the only one who thinks certain refs have it out for us.:(

You're not the only one. I'd be more than happy to take info from collegehockeystats.net and put them into a spreadsheet. But, not being at many games this season, I won't be able to judge "good" or "bad" penalty calls.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Burgie, you don't have to be AT the games. Just turn on the radio and listen to the crowd's reactions. That should tell you well enough, even if there are times when the crowd is wrong and that a "questionable" call is actually good.

Thanks Burgie.......if it's Kotyra we know it was a bad call 80% of the time l;)

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Several "special days" have been added to the schedule http://www.rpiathletics.com/schedule.aspx?path=hockey& including Skate with the Engineers on 12/5 vs. Colgate and Military Appreciation Night/Halloween Costume Night (IMHO an odd combination) vs. Army.

Well it would make sense to appreciate the Armed Forces when one of them is in town to play RPI - it's just a bit unfortunate that it happens on Halloween night. :D

It does make sense to have Military Appreciation Night vs. Army, and I understood that. Just the juxtaposition of that and Halloween costumes seemed to be a bit of poor taste.

Has RPI had Halloween Costumes before? I also note that White Out is back.

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 -- RIP Nathan Marsters

Anyone care to lays odds on whether Mike Adessa will be in attendance??

Now there's on off-season topic ! :D

I would bet he is there. he has been back for previous events honoring the '85 team, as well as a couple of times when his son's Northeastern team played at the field house.

When was he back with the 85 team? As I posted earlier, he missed the 20-year reunion. I thought, at the time, before the weather entered the picture, that it was mentioned he had not been back previously. (BTW, I received an email stating that it was an ice storm, not a snow storm, five years ago.)

I'll stand corrected, but I cannot recall him having ever come back in any official role recognizing the '85 team/season. Watching your kid skate while sitting in Section 1 is not the same as being a recognized by the school and program for whom you won a national championship.
