You know who is coaching that team? If your goalie commit is legit she probably won't be coming to RPI.

I believe it is tough for goalies due to lack of opportunities to play and especially with the transfer portal! So many great goalies are coming in and if you don’t get games in your first year, you almost end up back in the portal and at a D3/Usports. Many goalies want to go where they can get games right away, and not take the chance to sit for 2 years just to end up in the portal with nowhere to go.
Hicks played for Ontario blue last year and she played pretty good! Of course lots of politics with hockey Canada and I believe her dad is involved with the scouting of TC. No doubt she just received the offer a few months ago and not last year so that shows how competitive goalie positions are!

I would disagree with your third sentence. She beat out two of the other goalies at the camp, to the point where Canada only took two to the event rather than the standard three. If she was "bad", what does that mean Canada thinks about the other candidates?

Her dad is very involved with the OWHA process and I believe he coached Ontario red last year. Take that with a grain of salt! LR is a much better goalie as are the girls from Quebec that were at camp. There are also girls outside of the few from Ontario that were there but of course OWHA has a lot of politics. She is above average, but she won’t be making TC for January and I know she was not heavily scouted or a top prospect. There are many goalies that weren’t the OWHA chosen few that will have stronger college careers then her. Also, zero chance she makes the January TC
